John Masse Stars
In Juvenile Victory
Over Oakridge
John Masse sparked the Zurich
Lions Juveniles to an easy 54 vic-
tory over the Oakridge Acres team
on Monday night in Lucan, with
three goals. Single counters were
registered by Ron Deichert and
Gerard Overholt.
The locals went one up early in
the first, when Deichert dented the
twine on a pass from Earl Wagner.
John Masse scored on one of his
slap -shot specials minutes later, on
a pass from Paul Weido.
McCullum scored for Oakridge in
the middle stanza,for the only
goals of the period.
In the third Masse scored on a
pass from Earl and Bill Wagner,
and once unassisted. Overholt pic-
ked up his marker on a neat play
with Larry Bedard.
Only four penalties were hand-
ed out in the game, three to Oak-
ridge and one to Zurich.

Clinton Juveniles
Trounce Locals 8-3
The Zurich Lions Juveniles suf-
fered their worst defeat of the sea-
son on Tuesday night, in Clinton,
when the highly rated Clinton team
handed them a 8-3 setback. The
loss was only the third of the sea-
son for the locals.
Clinton went four ._goals up in
the first period, without a single
reply from the Zurich crew. In
the second stanza the locals man-
aged to bang in one goal, when
Larry Bedard scored on a pass from
John Masse. Clinton scored three
in this frame.
Only in the third period did the
locals manage to out -score their
hosts, when Ron Deichert and Paul
"Woody" Weido each scored unas-
sisted. Clinton scored their final
tally in this period.
Only five penalties were handed
out in the clean contest, with Zur-
ich drawing one and Clinton four.
The next home game for the
Zurich team will be this Saturday
night when Oakridge Acres will be
the visitors. On Friday night they
journey out to Hensall to tangle
with their bitter irvals, the Hen-
sall Juveniles.

Kippers News
Thrifty Kippenettes
The second meeting of the Thrif-
ty Kippenettes was held at the
home of Mrs. Charles Eyre, on Jan-
uary 14, at 9 a.m. The meeting
was opened by repeating the four-
th pledge and the roll call answer-
ed by all members. Margaret Jean
Broadfoot read the minuteq of the
last meeting, and Julie Chapple
was elected secretary for the next
meeting. The girls received notes
on "stay stitching." and clid a samp-
le of the same. They also did sam-
ples of hemming and a sample of
overcasting.
The next meeting, will be herd ^t
the home of Carol Varley, on Jan-
uary 28, at 9 a.m.. There was a dis-
cussion on record book covers and
it was decided to use white Bristol
hoard with pink letters. The roll
call and home assignments were
then given out. The meeting clos-
ed with the singing of the Nation-
al Anthem.

Annual Meeting
Canada's first artificial breeding
unit will he twenty years old in
1961. This is the Waterloo Cattle
Breeding Association, which is
planning to celebrate its 20th birth-
day later this year, according to an
announcement made made b y
President Joseph S. Dunbar at the
Annual Meeting of the Association
held January 10, at Kitchener.
The Waterloo Unit showed a
gain of 5.8 percent in its first ser-
vices last year with a total of 78,-
861. This included services for 11
different breeds of cattle. Hol-
steins made up almost half of this
business, with almost 47 percent of
the total, while Herefords were sec-
ond with 25 percent, and beef
Shorthorns third with 9 percent.
Other breeds included: Jersey five
percent; Guernsey two percent;
Ayrshire two percent; Charolais
three percent; dual purpose short-
horn 2.16 percent.
In its 20 year history the Wa-
terloo Unit has grown from an
experiment to an organization em-
ploying 44 full time employees and
having annual receipts of $440,420,
