Tonight, Thursday, at eight
o'clock, Mrs. Mclvina Johnston,
mother of the owner of the Dom-
inion Hotel in Zurich, will cut the
ribbon which will nark the offic-
ial opening of this completely re-
novated building, Assisting her in
the opening ceremonies will be var-
ious civic officials.
The occasion will be a memor-
able one for ,Mrs; Johnston, as it
is the same day she is celebrating
h e r 78th brithday. Grandma
Johnston, as she is better known,
along with her husband, the late
Wellington Johnston, operated the
Dominion Hotel for many years be-
fore selling out to their son, Ross,
the present owner. However Grand-
ma still remains active in the bus-
iness, helping in the kitchen as
much as she is able to.
Along with the ribbon -cutting
'ceremony, the visitors will be able
to tour the completely modern ho -

tel, Operating as a fully licen-
ced premises under the LCBA, the
Hotel has a dining room which has
seating capacity for 85 persons.
The ultra -modern Alpine Room has
seating accommodation for 60, and
the men's room, which is located
in the east portion of the building,
has a seating accommodation for
90.
Buffet Lunch
Following the tour of the build-
ing, the visitors will be served a
buffett lunch, in the attractive din-
ing room. The ribbon -cutting cer-
emony will take place at the door
in the main lobby to the Hotel.
Mrs. Johnston, better known as
Marg, will be in charge of the lun-
ch.
Free Dancing
As an added attraction for the
special grand opening event, the
Dominion Hotel has arranged for
free dancing in the Community

way at 10:00 pan., with music be-
ing supplied by the Desjardine
Orchestra. Mr. and Mrs. Johnston
are extending an invitation to ev-
eryone to attend this opening cere-
mony at the Hotel, and a special
invitation to all the young people
as well as the older ones to attend
the dance in the Community Cert.

The r mplete renovation of the
Dominion Hotel has provided many
local tradesmen with employment
during the past fall and early win-
ter months. At times there was as
high as 30 Hien working on the
the building at one time.
In the early staves of the • cons-
truction, the footings were dug by
Lorne R. Becker. of Dashwood, who
is in the excavation business. Cem-
ent work was looked after by Nap-
oleon Corriveau and Mahlon Saud-
er.
Carpenters who helped in the
construction were Donald Oke and
his staff, and Lloyd Miller and his

ation was carried out under the
direction of F. E. Wuerth. A num-
ber of local firms, Hader and Mitt-
elholtz, O'Brien's Plumbing, Stade
and Weido, and Gingerich's divided
the heating and piumbing work,
under the supervision of Peter Cr-
ocker. of Crocker Refr!g.—at'on.
Crocker's also had the contract for
the refrigeration and air-condition-
ing system.
Carpet and f1oo c ovoriug was
suplied by Westlake Furniture, and
the drapery was provided by Gascho
Bros.
Hi-fi, inter-com, and television
throughout the building was inst-
alled by K. M. i3reakey Electronics.
