James Donnelly, of Goderich, was
appointed township solicitor; A. M.
Harper, of Goderich, accountant;
and C. P. Corbett, of Lucan, engin-
eer. Mervin Hanley was appoin-
ted truant officer, and will receive
$15,00, plus milage.
William Caldwell and Louis Tay-
lor were appointed livestock eval-
uators. Pound. keepers appointed
were Bert Greer, David Oesch, Or-
ville McClinchey, Anson Coleman,
George Cantelon, George Dowson
and Grant Webster. Fence view-
ers re -appointed were Allen Arm-
strong, Elmer Turner and Allen
Johnston.
Les Elliott of Bayfield, was re-
appointed tax collector for that
village, at a salary of $60,00.
Fire Protection
A grant of $300,00 each was ap-
proved for Bayfield and Brucefield
fire departments, There is no
hourly rate included in this agree-
ment.
Zurich has been paid $125.00 re-
taining fee and Clinton receives
the same amount. An hourly rate
is provided for under this agree-
ment,
By-law No. 3 authorizing the
township to borrow up to $50,000,
received the third and final read-
ing.
Vouchers passed and paid were:
Bayfield general expenses, $1,030-
.00; Stanley general, $3,929.00;
Brucefield drain, $106.00; and cur-
rent road expenses, $11,345.00.
Road superintendent Willim Tay-
lor explained that $9415.00 of this
was paid on the new grader and
$918,00 was paid to Gordon Heard
for snowplowing. This covers snow-
plowing expenses up to January 5.
Council felt that Heard was doing
a good job on the township roads.
Stanley Township's snowplow,
which was wrecked last December,
is being repaired at the factory,
Dominion Road Machinery Comp-
any, at Goderich. The Company
has promised delivery four to five
days after the parts for the motor
are received. These are now on
order in USA.
By-law No. 2 authorizing the
Clerk to apply to the Department
of Highways for a grant of $45,000.-
00, received the third and final
reading.
William Taylor was instructed to
advertise for tenders for the con-
struction of a new bridge on Er-
ratt's sideroad.
Mrs. Helen Taylor was re-engag-
ed as bookkeeper for the road de-
partment, at a salary of $250.00.
Ron Coleman, grader operator,
received an increase of five cents
an hour, He will now be paid $1.10
an hour, All other township em-
ployees will receive $1.00 per hour,
with the exception of Harvey Hay-
ter, who will be paid $1.10 per
