Zurich Juveniles Eliminate Howick
Lions Team In Two Straight Games
The Zurich Lions Juveniles eliminated Howick Juveniles from
further WOAA competition last week, when they trounced them in
the first two games of a best of three series. The first game, play-
ed in Belmore last Wednesday night, ended in an 11-2 score, while
the second game, played Friday night in Zurich, ended 9-4 for the
locals.
FIRST GAME --
Wayne Willert sparked Zurich
with three goals in the Wednesday
night night tussle in the northern
town, played on soft, sloppy ice.
Bob Johnston and Gerard Overholt
each tallied two.
Johnston and Willert each scor-
ed once in the first period, to
shoot the locals into an early 2-0
lead.
In the second session Zurich ad-
ded five more goals, while holding
Howick off the score sheet.
They added three more in the
third before Howick finally found
the range, with less then six min-
utes left in the game. Murray Bell
banged in the final Zurich goal,
with one minute and 20 seconds left
to play.
Only two minor penalties were
handed out in the game, 'one to
each team in the first period.

SECOND GAME
After spotting the visitors an
early goal at the 32 second mark
in Zurich on Friday night, the loc-
als roared back strong to end the
period 5-1.
In the second session Zurich out-
scored the Howick boys 3-1, but in
the third came out on the short
end of the scoring as the visitors
scored twice to Zurich once.
Don Johnson was the big gun
in the local's victory, scoring three
goals. Single markers were not-
ched by Wayne Willert, Gerard
Overholt, Bill Wagner, Earl Wag-
ner, Lary Bedard and Bob John-
ston.
But for some sensational goal-
tending by Templeman in the
Howick net, the score could have
been twice as large. Time after
time he kicked out shots that look-
ed like sure goals.
Six penalties were handed out
in the contest, three to each team.
Stormy weather kept the crowd
from being as large as it was ex-
pected to be.

SERIOUS BUSINESS — sober attention was gives speakers in the Clinton Legion Hall last Week,
as Huron County Hog Producers considered their market situation and pondered the problems the
on -coming vote will raise. Though no derision has been made by the Farm Products Marketing
Board about the wording of the ballots, produo ers have been told they must vote about their
marketing scheme. At the annual meeting pict ured above, Huron County asked for a postpone-
ment of the vote until their province -wide selling scheme and the deficiency payment plan of the
federal government had a chance to work together. Seated in the front row in this photo are
three Zurich district farmers. Left to right are; Ted Steinback, Joe Hoffman, and George Grenier.

Zurich Old -Timers
Beat Dashwood In
Exhibition Tussle
The Zurich Oldtimers, led by
three -goal expert Bob McKinley,
trounced the Dashwood Oldtimers
in a hockey (or shinney) game at
the local arena on Saturday night,
by a score of 15-8.
It looked just like old times as
the stars of years gone by donned
their blades "to do battle on the
ice. All that was missing in the
game was the old-time rivalry whi-
ch used to exist between these
two teams.
Jimmy (five -goal) Hayter was the
star of the Dashwood team, as he
led one rush after another on the
Zurich goal, but due to the stellar
net minding of Hubert Schilbe in
the local net, their efforts were
quite often in vain.
A total of 42 penalties were
handed out in the game, by referee
Earl Wagner and Dennis Amacher,
who ruled with a stern finger thr-
oughout the contest.

near future, but it will be played.

fans cannot boo the players..
