Douglas Dunn was able to re-
turn to his studies at Clinton
Collegiate on Thursday, Ho suf.
fered a cut to his head and the
'severing of three arteries In the
head, the result of a :fall against
the barn wall on Saturday, Feb-
ruary 13. Several stiches were
required to close the Cut. Dr.
Addison attended.
Mrs, John Scotchmer Jr, re-
turned to her home on Saturday
after being a patient in Clinton
Public Hospital for a couple of
days,
Mr, and Mrs. Russell Grainger
Phyllis and Jim, spent the week-
end in, Wallaceburg with Mr. and
Mrs. Ardell Grainger and Barb-
ara,
Sunday visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Ardell Grainger, Wallace -
burg, were Elaine, Mary, Helen
roar Cathryn Grainger, Richard
Erb and Ed. Deichert.
Fair Board Meets
The Hayfield Agricultural Soc-
iety held their regular monthly
meeting in the Town Hall, Bay-
field, on Monday, February 15,
with a fair attendance.
The president, Fraser Stirling,
presided over the meeting and
Mrs. A. Bassett, secretary, read
the minutes of the last meeting.
The report of the striking com-
mittee, as compiled by Mrs. Ed.
Gregg, Grant Stirling and Orval
McClinehey, was also read.
Routine business was discussed
and it was decided to hold the
monthly meeting on the third
Monday of each month, at 8 p.m.
Tentative date set for the 1960
fair was September 28 and 29.

Plans were made for the St.
Patrick's Euchre and Dance to
be held on Friday, March 18, in
the Town Hall, Bayfield,. with
Carruthers Orchestra providing
.the music,
Euchre and Dance
The Agricultural Society held
their Valentine Euchre and Dance
in the Town Hall, Bayfield, on
February 12. A good crowd was
in attendance. Euchre prizes went
to, Mrs. Allen Armstrong, Ladies
high; Mrs. William McAsh, ladies
low; Leslie Armstrong, mens
high; Robert Taylor, mens low.
Mrs. Malcolm Toms was the
winner of the door prize„ which
was a wallet.
Mrs. Raymond Scotchmer and
pupils of S.S. No. 4 West Stanley,
entertained the mothers, friends
and pre-school age children of the
two sections at a Valentine Par-
ty in the schoolroom, on Friday
afternoon.
At noon. hour the senior Girls
distributed the Valentines in
readiness for the afternoon. The
program opened with the National
Anthem followed by solos, duets,
games and contests. Following the
program a delicious lunch was
served by the senior boys.

Host Exeter Lodge

Pride of Huron Lodge, Exeter,
were special guests of Amber Re-
bekah Lodge, Hensall, for the cel-
ebration of the llth birthday
party of the Hensel]. Lodge, held
in the Lodge Hall, on Wednes-
day, February 17th, with over 70
members and guests present. No-
ble Grand, Mrs. Glenn Bell, who
presided, presented Mrs. G. Fisher
Noble Grand of the visiting Lodge,
with a corsage, and Mrs. Bell was
also presented with a corsage with
honors going to Mrs. William
Caldwell, District Deputy Presi-
dent Mrs. Dorothy Parker, who
was unable to be present owing to
illness, received a lovely corsage.
Mrs. E. Chipchase, Vice Grand,
Miss Mabel Whiteman, and Mrs.

Fair ,Grounds, London, are now al-
most complete, Prize lists have
been;, distributed across the 11 co-
unties of South Western Ontario
from which rural people exhibit a
wide range of products and com-
modities, A good number of en-
tries have already been received
the deadline for entries in the reg-
ular competitive classes is Tuesday
February 23rd.
The entire space in the Manu-
facturer's Building will be used
for this year's Fair. Over 100
Commercial and Educational Dis-
plays will occupy. the 40,000 sq
feet of display space. Also most
of .the display area has been re-
arranged this year to produce a
more attractive show.

Hensall Girl Guide
Wins Her Gold Cord

At a Girl Guide association ban-
quet in the United Church of Hen-
sall last Friday evening, Pat Rowe
was presented with her Gold Cord
by Miss Siegner, Exeter, Division
Commissioner for Huron,
In her reply Pat paid tribute to
the important part a mother plays
in the winning of awards by -•a
Guide. Ann Mickle presented Mrs:
E. Rowe, as Guide mother of the
year, with flowers.
The Rev. Currie Winlaw, guest
speaker, developed very capably
the theme, "There is a God in Hea-
ven, and He cares for me.". Dec-
orations were in keeping with the
Golden Jubilee of Guiding being
celebrated this year.
Among the guests were two of
the three previous Gold Corcl win-
ners. Pat's is the fourth cord won
by the Hensall Company in six
years. Recognition was given to
the work of Mrs. Thomas Laven-
der„ Division Camp Advisor, who
organized Guiding in Hensall and
who retired this year' after more
than ten years as Chairman of the
local association.
