Mrs. Anne Turkheim is spend- ing a few days with members of her family in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Bowman visited friends in Waterloo on New Year's Day. Mrs. M. Dalton and family, Sea - forth, were Sunday visitors at the home of Mrs. Edna Oswald. Miss Joan Grant, Vancouver, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Bryce Mack and family the past week. lblr. and Mrs. Arnie Meyer, Mt. Pleasant, Mich., were holiday vis- itors at the home of Mr, and Mrs. Ferd Haberer. Mrs. Pearl Koehler and family, Hensall. were New Year's visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leon- ard Erb. During the holidays Ron Klopp was host at a buffet luncheon for 17 members of the Lutheran Stu- dent Association of London. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Copeland, London, were New Year's visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Al- lan Gascho, in Zurich. Mrs. Nancy Koehler has return- ed home after visiting with her children at Toronto and Hunts- ville, for several weeks. . Mr. and Mrs. Tom Davidson, Montreal, were Monday visitors at the home of the former's brother; William Davidson. Mrs. Veronica Glenn, Rosedale, British Columbia, was home for the funeral of her father, the late William Dietrich, and also spent a few days with her mother. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Brisson and family, St. Thomas, were vis- itors in Zurich with friends and relatives over New Year's. Saturday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mose Erb were: Mr. and Mrs. Harold Zehr and family, Zurich and Standly Zehr, Welles- ley. M'r. and Mrs. Jack Fasken, El- ora, were holiday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Mer- ner. Mrs. Edna Oswald spent New Year's Day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Finkbeiner and family at Kippen. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bedard and family, Detroit, were holiday visitors with relatives in this dist- rict. Miss Jane Hartman, London, spent the past week with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben T1 Cann. Mr. and Mrs. George Bullock and family were Saturday visit- ors with Mr. and Mrs. Carmen Lovie, in Grand Bend. Miss Marlene Wagner, Kitchen- er, and Mike Ullerick, London, spent the weekend at the Wagner home in Zurich. Mr. and Mrs. John Peters, Tor- onto, were New Year's visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Gascho. Cari, Ray, and Joan Finkbeiner, Kippen, were visitors for a few days Iast week at the home of their grandmother, Mrs. E. Os- wald. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Bachert and Mr. and Mrs. Mose Erb were at 'Tavistock one day last week, at- tending fhe funeral of Mrs. Noah Leichty, an aunt of Mrs. Erb. .Mr. and Mrs. James Wikl, Fene- Ion Falls, are spending a month's vacation with relatives and friends in this part of Ontario. They were New Year's visitors with friends in Zurich, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Golding and David, London, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Yantzi and Fergus, Sea - forth, spent New Year's at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Davidson. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Gascho have returned home after spend- ing some holidays at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and ,Mrs. Ross McNab in No- va Scotia. Miss Virginia Deichert, who is a teacher at MacGregor Public School in Waterloo, spent the Christmas holidays with relatives and friends in this district. Holiday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Klopp were: Miss Mary Klopp, London; Miss Kathryn Klopp, Cobourg; and Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Haywood and family, London. Michael Hartman, Toronto, sp- ent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. T. Hartman. He has recent- ly been transferred to Scarboro, and has also received a promo- tion, Mr. and -Mrs. Arthur Gelinas and family, Mr, and Mrs. Don Hartman and family, all of Lon- don, Mr.' and Mrs. Hubert Mc- Keever and family, Dashwood, were New Year's visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Bert McCann, in Zurich. Miss Norma Mae Martin, Mat- tawa, who was a guest of Miss Virginia Deichert over the holi- days, left on New Year's Day to resume her duties as a public school teacher at Powassan. 0 Letter to the Editor Zurich Citizens News, Zurich Ontario. OBITUARY Edward Wurm Word has been received of the passing of an old Zurich resident, in the person of Edward Wurm, Markham. He has been living with his daughter Kathleen, Mrs. Thomas Hastings, at Markham, for sev- eral years, and has been in poor health. He was married to the late Lyd- ia Schwartz, of Crediton, who pre- deceased him quite a number of years ago. Mr. Wurm conducted a livery business in Zurichfor a number of years, and was an ardent base- ball fan, being catcher for the Zurich baseball team for many years. Since moving to Markham he has been interested in lawn bowling. He leaves to mourn his daugh- ter, Kathleen; three grandchild- ren; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Jac- obs, Itasca, Ill., and Mrs. Louise Reddinger, Detroit. On Tuesday afternoon and evening a happy event' took place at the home of Mr; and Mrs. William Sparks, Louisa Street, Seaforth, when over 100 friends, relatives . and neighbours came to offer their congratulations a n d b e s t wishes, on the occasion of their golden wedding anniver- sary. Mr. and Mrs. Sparks were married on December 29, 1909, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and. Mrs. James Mahaffy, in Clinton, by the Rev. Dr. Stewart, of Wil- lis . Presbyterian Chtirgh, They took up residence on the groom's farm on the Bronson, Line, near Bayieki, where they farmed until three` yearsago when' they retired to Seaforth. Mr. Sparks was a director of Bayfield Fall Fair for many years, and president for five years. He was also active in St. Andrew's United Ch- urch, Bayfield, being a mem- ber of the session and a trus- tee for a number of years. Mrs. Sparks was active in the women's organizations. Their family consists of a foster son, Bert W. Dunn, his wife, and their two sons, Jack and Douglas. Mrs. Sparks has two sisters, Mrs. Edith Hodgson, Saska- toon, Sask.; and Mrs. J. Ross Taylor, St. Marys; a nephew, E. C. Hodgson, Ottawa. Those assisting with the re- ception were: Mrs. Dunn, Mrs. R. Grainger, Mrs. Roy McBride and Mrs. Peter Gin- gerich, Zurich; Misses Marj- orie and Helen Smith, St. Thomas; Mrs. J. C. Cochrane, Mrs. Jaynes .Atcheson and Miss Belle Campbell, Sea - forth.. Among those who called to offer their congratulations was Senator W. H. Golding.
