Friends learn with regret of the
death, in Toronto recently of Alex:
cedar Thompeon, a former well km-
Hensall
tem Hensall resident. He was a native j
ef Aberdeen, Scotland, coming to
Canada in the year 18'74, settling
first in Huron County. Moving from
Hensall he had resided in Toronto
together with his family for the past
25 years. He was in his 87th year and
until three months previous to his
death, which was quite sudden fol-
lowing a stroke, had been wonder-
fully active. He had been a staunch
Presbyterian before Union and for
the past 10 years was a faithful me-
mber of Erskine United Church, Tor-
onto.
Death came suddenly on Dec. 19,
to an old Huron boy when Thomas
Ford was found dead in bed at hie
home in Windsor. He was a native of
Tuckersmith Tp., and was born on
t'ae 2nd con. When he was 4 years of
age his father passed away leaving
his widow with three small children.
At the age of fourteen Thomas Ford
started out to earn his own living,
working first with John Foster, of
Zurich and W. Dinnin of Lumley
and later with Harry Renolds of Hen-
sel'. When he reached his 18th year
he moved to the West Superior to
make a home for his widowed mother
and two sisters. Being a faithful
worker and a saving man, he succe-
eded. in gathering together a .consid-
erable amount of this world's goods:,
During this time he dived with his
mother and sisters, who carried on a
millinery and dress making business
for over 30 years. When his ,.other
had 'advanced in years she found the
Western winters too cold for her
and the family moved to Windsor:.
