Paul Butler of Strathroy was fined
$10 and costs totalling r n..i m Kitch-
ener Police court when found guilty
of reckless driving in connection with
an accident that occurred; there on
November llth. Drivi:•;g behind J.
Petzke of Zurick. he failed to con-
trol his car when the latter slowed
down and crashed into the rear of I
Petzke'w machine, driving it into a
tree and deme.7eireer. it severely, both i
front and rear. Fetzke was also cut•
about the leg. The magistrate sus-
pended Butler's permit for 30 days.
Will Not Act Neat Year
W."S. Holmes, Clinton, notified the
Motor Vehicle Department that he
does not wish to handle the car mark-
ers for the coming year. The depart-
ment Will probably have no difficulty
in filling this ere ency~ as no doubt
there will be mazy who would like to
have the position. Mr. Hermes states
he has enough Weeh looking after his
own business and that there were
others whoeoul d fill such an appoint-
ment who had more time and needed
the remuneration which. it carried.
The Potato Situation
While blight and rothave affected
much of the potato crop in Huron
"+ County this year, it is netsomarked
1 in Colborne and Goderich Townships,
particularly on lighter land and in-
formation that potatoes are expected
to reach $2.00 or better by the new
year conies as welcome news to far-
mers hereabouts having gooderops.
Furtherinland rot is more evidence.
Many farmers have been afraid to
sell their potatoes and in some sec-
tions they were not harvested. One
farmer who had, six acres does not
expect to have enough fortheir own
use. Last year he raised '7,000 bush-
els. The county potato acreage is a-
way down this year. The present
price is 85 cents, a gain of ten cents
in the past week. liouseliolders who
