Tuesday was a big day for the peo-
ple of the United States, when they
had their Presidental election, and
it sure was a big turnover, as the
former President Herbert Hoover,
was badly defeated at the pelts by the
Govoner of New York State, Mr.
Franklin Roosevelt, who will head
the Democrat party for the next three
years at the White House, Ottawa.
A vote was also taken to repeal the
dry prohibition law and this in many
States was also defeated, and some
form of liquor control laws must be
inforced.
Judge Costello III

Honor will be about again shortly.

ilty to the charge and was sentenced

weeds from 25 acres of pasture by
the use of common salt. The meth-
od is not new, but was so carefully
•worked that Prof. Howitt of Guelph
was convinced of its efficiency.
Carrots in Storage •
Recent reports indicate that com-
paratively honvy supplies of Ontario
grown carrots are being placed in
rots, largely grown in muck soil, are
of particularly high quality, and de-
alers predict that this Ontario grown
product wilt successfully compete
1 with the imported carrots, usually
brought to Ontario during the mon-
ths of February and March.

Little Things to Fight
Dr. Lionel Stephenson, Provincial
Zoologist for Ontario, in a recent re+
view of work being done in connect-
ion with the control of internal par-
asites of animals stated that those
which give principal cause for con-
cern in the livestock industry are
comparative few. Of these he named
six principal internal parasites in
sheep, two in swine, two in cattle, 3
in horses, two in poultry, and five in
fur -bearing animals. In the case of
most of these parasites it is possible
to Check their ravages by simple con-
trol measures.
Poultry in Demand
In a recent address Prof, Graham
of 0, A. C. predicted that if the pres-
ent demand for eggs continueci there
would not be a single egg in storage
in Canada by Jan. 1st. The poultry
business was good at present, he de-
clared, pointing out that last spring
there had been a great surplus of
pouittry and some • of the storage de-
alers had taken a loss of ,,$100 a town
on their•stoek. Now they were short
of , everything, with only half the.
Chieketis they had at this tune last;
cold storage at Toronto, These ear-. year.
