The Zurich Branch of the W. I.
held their monthly meeting Monday
evening, Novembers cth, in the Town
Hall, auditorium, .with a large at-
tendance of members and friends,
and girls and boys. After community
singing the meeting was opened with!
the singing of the Institute Ode and
the Lord's Prayer. Mrs. H. Hess
presided over a program consisting
of a ladies' chorus, a reading by Miss
Pearl Wurtz in which she outlined
the life of E. Pauline Johnston, and
a piano duet by bln. O'Dwyer and
Mrs. H. Hess. The story telling con-
test was then introduced. Nine pup-
ils froin the stcrrounding schools
competed. All. the children who
spoke are to be congratulated on the
able manner in which they told their
stories. The judges were Mrs. R.
Taylor and Mrs. A. Oestreicher, of
Dashwood and Mrs. L Kalbfleisch.
After very careful deliberation they
decided that the prizes' should be
awarded to Geraldine Denomy, Elva
Hey and Florence Mittleholtz respect-
ively. Mrs. H. Hess presented the win-
ners with books for prizes. Mrs. E.
F. IClopp, president, conducted the,
usual business.lt was decide•:. that the
Institute respond to an appeal from
Northern Ontario for clothes chiefly
for children and babies, and that each
member donate a piece of clothing
or money. The meeting was closed
with the National Anthem, after wh-
ch the • committee in char a served

refreshments and a social half hour
was enjoyed. The president, on be-
half of the Institute thanked the
teachers who helped to make the
story telling contest a. success, the
judges, those who took part iri the
program and the committee in
