The excavation of a cellar under
the 'Haist Bakery, is making rapid
progress, : and the necessary earth to
be removed will soon he out.
Mrs. Simon Groh, of the Babylon
Line, spent the past week with he'
daughter, Mrs. Hugh Love of near
Grand Bend.
The rather nice and sasonably cold
weather for the past week was quick-
ly turned into another waren spell or
Tuesday ,night, and to -day Wednes-
day the mud is again hying with the
travelling automobiles. But we are
again looking for a colder snap and
certainly would enjoy more ,steady
weather. For the readers from a
distance we would say that there is
practically no snow to be seen, and
it looks more like February than the
middle of February.
Miss Lena ,Denornme Passes
There passed - away at her home
on the Blue Water Highway, opposite
St. Peter's R. C. Church, on Febru-
ary 10th, Lena Denomme, a respected,
resident of that district, aged 55 yrs,
11 months and one -day: Deceased
was ill only for four days, and was
a daughter of the late George "Den-
omme, and a lifelong resident of the
Denomme home. For years the de-
parted was organist in St. Peter's
church, and will be greatly missed in,.
the parish. The funeral which was
conducted by her pastor, Rev. Father
Marchand, was held at the Drysdale
cemetery where interment was mad.l

Attendance at the second year
course will not by compulsory for the
Normal School year, 1932-1933, Pre-
mier Henry, Minister of Education,
announced. The change is made in
view of present business conditions.
Since the Normal school session of
1928-28 the regulations have requi-
red all teachers in training to attend
a Normal school for two years in or-
der to obtain permanent professional
certificates.,

Warden's Departure Delayed
G'oderich Star - When Warden
'L. IL Rader attempted to unlock the
door of his automobile to return
home on Friday afternoon after the
conclusion of the County Council
session, the key broke off in the lock
and after investigation it was found
necessary to remove the door be-
fore entrance to the car could be
gained. Deputy -Reeve Stewart Mc-
Quarrie of Grey Township lost the
return portion of his railway ticker
during the week's excitement. Fort-
unately he was able to secure a rude
hone in an autoinobile. Caretaker
George James swept up the ticket
next day and has forwaruea it to the
youthful deputy -reeve.
TWO LADIES KILLi:,D
Mrs. M. A. Charlesworth and Mrs.
Samuel McGeoch, both elderly Yosid-
ents of Egrnondville, were killed in a
motor accident late Saturday night.
The accident ' was investigated by
Constable Whiteside of Goderich,Mrs
McGeoch was around 65 years of age
while her friend Mrs. Charlesworth
was over 70 years old. The latter
had spent the evening at the home
of the other woman,who lives
about
a quarter of a mile from her home on
the other side of the main st. of Ego
mondville. When abe left she expres-
sed some fears at crossing the street
alone and Mrs. McGeoch went along
for safety sake As they were otos-
sing the pavement, a truck driven by
Andrew Moore„ also of Egmondvlle, 1
crashed into them, killing both wo-
men ahnost instantly. No one witnes- g
