Huron County Leads
In the 1931 bacon litter competition'
-conducted by the Provincial and Fed-
eral Live Stock Branches the Prov-
ince was divided into five districts,`
Huron County was grouped in dis
trict No. 4, along with the counties'pf
Wellington, Grey, Bruce and Duffer•
in. The result recently published
show that in district No. 4, contest
ants from Huron finished in the 1•21-, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Masse and
lowing order: lst, 2nd, 3rd, nth, 6,,' daughter Hazel of the 14th conces-

of a young man wlio had been• with
'Boehler' and later made his hone
-with the Byrd family, andA the as-

in Fordwich, on New Year's eve,
when the woman is said to have at-
tacked Boehler. b'y kicking hitting
him, -while the man only tried to
avoid punishment as best he dould.
The gurl's father was present when
the encounter took place, which has
created much excitement and has
been given much publicity.

words chairman, of the council, and
this always causes considerable en-
thusiasm what municapility will have
the honor of having their reeve in
this prominent position. Mr. L. H.
Rader, Reeve of Hay, is considering
himself as an aspirant for the pos-
ition, and of course we all join to-
gether in wishing Mr: Rader n>trch
success and hope he -will receive the.
appointment.
The annual report as to attendance
was read in the Evangelical Sabbath
School on Sunday morning and the
President, Mr. J. E. Gascho made
presentations to those having attned-
ed the Sabbath School each Sunday,
during 1931 as follows: Mr; S.Schoch
Mrs. J. K.• Ehlers, Romane Geiger,
Claire Geiger, Chester Salhion, S.
Martin, Hubert ' Salmon, Jeanette Sal -
Mon. Special mention was made of
Claire Geiger who has not missed a
Sunday in four years, and his sister,
Romaine Geiger who has not missed
in three years. The pastor, Rev. W.
Y. _Dreier then introaucea tine Royal
Knight Class Orchestra, who presided
in the •front of the church on Sun-
day morning for the S. School open-
ing. More of this organization will
be said. later.
Two Parkhill Men in
Accident.
Two Parkhill men, Arthur Harris
and his employer, • Adulplius Allen,
drover, narrowly eseaped death at
the Main St. railway crossing on
Monday evening, when their light ro-
adster was struck by a westbound
C.N.R. train. The auto was totaly
wrecked. Allen was found 20 yards
up the, track, while his companion
was thrown 15 yards from the cros-
sing,. A signpost at :the side of the
intersection was smashed by the
ar. In a serious condition. at the
home of Mr. Gordon Turnbull, Allen
was 'repotted to be suffering from 2
grilles on the head, froin shock and
back" injuries. He was in a semi-con-
scious condition when picked up, be-
ing first carried to' the post office,
and later moved. to the home of his
brother-in-law, Mr. Gordon Turnbull.
Harris was given treatment for head
cuts and later was allowed to return
to his home. The locomotive was al-
so considerably darns ;eel, as some of
the breaking equipment was torn off
and the train travelled a half mile
before it was stopped.
