... The New Highway Law
Motorists should not allow therm
selves to - be caught mapping in the
matter of the Provincial "financial re

effect on Sept. 1st. The'simplest way
for tiie motorist to protect himself is
to see an insurance agent and take
out a policy covering "public liability
and property damage". Every mot-

Much Lignite in North
Thos. F. Sutherland, Deputy Min-.
ister of Mines, back from Northern
Ontario, states that diamond drilling
on the On.akawan lignite: field, on the
Abitibi River, indicates at least 100,-
000,000 tons oI lignite available for
mining. Three diamond drills are at
work, and the last test hole. number'
61, showed the seam 55 feet thick.
Samples have been sent to the On-
tario Research Foundation, and to ex-
pert; in Germany and United States.
i Reports of the tests will enable the
Ontario Department of Mines to plan
exploitation of the lignite. Mr. Suth-
erland reports that extension of the
".1' .and N. O. Railway towards James
Bay is progressing rapidly and that
the construction gang should reach
Hike River in another fortnight
