We sympathize with Mrs. Koehler and the Fowlie family, as their mother pas- sed away only about a month ago. Messrs. Rose ib Deitz have erected a small frame building on their site of the new service station, which will answer the purpose for the' time be- ing until they they have their per- manent building erected. A number of our young lads are enjoying the evenings with the dip nets alog the creeks in saughe-- rsik• ing. riot we have not heard of any great catches made so far. Probably a nice warm rain would bring these fish up the streams in anticipation of laying their spawn. The farmers are vers busy at pres- ent, being in the very midst of spring seeding, and the land has dried of wonderfully the past and this week, the cold east winds this week are a great help to drying up and in starting the horses in the heavy work. The land works up real nice• and a week's dry weather will see practically all the seeding in, and then we look for warmer weather to bring about growth. The musical hous of worship at Emanuel Evangelical church, Zuriali on Sunday evening gathered a large audience into the sanctuary and ut- terly delighted, charmed and edifyed the same. The members of the choir and Miss E. Rennie, their efficient leader are worthy of our highest commendation and appreciation, for their excellent and unselfish service so constantly and faithfully rendered A couple of drains leading from the main business corner out towards the Goshen Line north have been taken up, cleaned out and replaced, while in some .instancesthey were re- placed withlarger tile. There is an abundance of this drain cleaning out should be done in the business section of town, as most of the drains on the Zurich Road part of the village leading eastward are practically full of dirt and cannot function under conditions. Zurich's drainage system in many parts, is far from what it should be, and then if the . drains are partially filled with dirt, it mattes matters all the worse: There is prob- ably no better time to do this work" than right now when there is an abundance of labor available. Mr. Leon Jeffrey of the 15th con.' Hay called in the herald office on Saturday evening and advised us: that on Saturday eve. he finished. with his ordinary spring seeding, as the Iand was dry and fit nearly all week, and a few relatives who are not so fortunate in having such well drained farms, turned in and helped Mr. Jeffrey to rush his seeding a- long as the land was in such excel- lent condition. Mr. Jeffrey attributes; this early dring up of land to the municipal drain known as the "Jef- frey Drain" which was put through last summer, and which afforded a good clearance of the water and al- so made an adequate outlet for all the underdrains, which were numor•- ous but of no avail as there was no outlet previous to this dredged ditch. .Surely one cannot 'help but admit that geed drainage.•is .an asset to a worth. of cc,riutltent i Our local merchants who stored a goodly number of dutek set onions report that they withstoon the winter in line condition, and show good. sample. • Tho big balk of the onion; are all shipped away, o my•a few are retained for home planting. We un- derstand that the prices on the mar- ket in general are exceptionally good this spring, but this is of little ad- vantage to the local merchants, as the Unions tiro all sold or contracted. 1 ' 0 111 the f itt o they ear. •. Constable Jul Block of town bro- u.ght to the Herald O1l'ce on V1'ed- usday a hen's 'gg that would make a hearty breakfast for mbst men in this vicinity, It measured 7 by 8 inch: c•; in circumference, and Mr. i3:ack did not leave it with the publisher either. Probably he thought this is a "man's job" to eat an egg the of this one, and if Constable Jul. will continue eating eggs of this size it ,could develop him into even a great- er "husky". Easter Greetings On the coming Lord's Day t111COun- ted thousands of congregations unite in the sacramental fellowship of a great resurrection joy: A fact so central and fundamental to Christian Pith; By Anthems and"prayers and meditations, by flowers; 'human kind- liness, consecration and, cievotion, give expression to the meaning of Easter. On Easter we learlt.that the cross is notthe end; that -sin and death ,are not the .,end, however deep and, dark they: may be. Easter assures us that death is not a blind alley, but "a throughfare. It is an incident, not a finality;t A new beginning. Beyond it is continued fellowship and exper- iences too great for human langu- age to express. Beyond Easter lies, "The land .that is Fairer than Day." The soul's highest fulfillment, divin- est fellowship, most satisfyiny joy richest . inheritance, eternal, rewrad, immortal symphonies.
