The good 'old gas engine that has been in continuous use in the Herald printing plant for over twenty-five years, and which has turned over the press every week of publication for about that length of time, has recent- ly found a new owner in Mr. Law- rence Denomme, who is moving on the farm vacated by Mr. John A. Smith, and who intends to use the same for pumping water. Some one has said that this little engine was probably the first stationery engine that was owned in Zurich. It was purchased by Mr. E. Zeller, who was at that time the popular publisher of the Herald, - and was purchased from a man at Hensall who was the mak- er of these engines. This little ma- chine is worthy of comment of the years of wonderful service it has given, and is still, if taken care of a very serviceable engine. Since the installation of a larger motor in our plant we have no more use for this good old standby, and while we real- ize that many a time it turned the press for a' "dry" issue, but from now on we have the assurance of keeping things "wet" 'around Mr. Denomme's farm. At Division Court (Exeter Times -Advocate) There is nothing like a horse case to attract a crowd to courtt. This was :r ,illustrated last• Friday when the action of John Hey Jr., of Zurich, against Preston Dearing was tried at the Town Hall before His Honor Judge Lewis. Horse jockeys, ama- teur and professional, horse traders, retail and wholesale, racers and near racers, all wanted to learn any new wrinkles in the game of swopping ,jobtlitt. Pecember 1.026 the liti. anis deak licitiea and Dearing was to have paid a difference of $25.00 Of this amount he paid only $5.00 and refused to pay the balance claim ing the horse was a "rattle -head" in- stead of merely a "free -goer" as re- presented: However he sold the horse in February 192/ instead of returning him and three of the sub- iequent owners gave character evid- tice which completely cleared~ him If being "crazy" acting. DO iT NOW If with pleasure you are viewing, Any work a man is doing, If you like him, or you love him, Tell him now. Don't withhold your approbation, Till the parson makes oration, And he lies with snowy lines on his brow, For no matter how you shout it. He won't really care about it, Hewon't know how many tear dfops you have shed. If you. thing some praise is due him, Now's the time to slip it to him. For he cannot read his tombstone when he's dead. More than fame, and more than money,Is the comment kind and sunny, ' And the hearty warm approval of a friend. For he gives to life a savor And it makes you stronger braver And it gives you heart and spirit to the end. If he earns your praise bestow it, If you like him, let him know' it, Let the, )y ds of true encouragement be said, Do not wait till life is over And he's underneath the clover, For he cannot' read his tombstone when he's dead.
