The auction sale of pure bred Hol-
stein cows held by Mr. C. Schrag,
of the Goshen Line, north on Wed-

people, and although some of these
fine cows should be worth consider-
able more money, yet the prices we -

on this morning makes one think of
the glorious Yuletide Season, and
one can hardly refrain from singing
that good old tune '"Silent Night."

Lamb and Mutton
The consumption of Iamb and mut-
ton in Canada is showing a rapid in-
crease. During the year ending last
March, upwards of 40,000 more she-
ep and lambs were slaughtered in in-
spected packing houses than during
the previous year. The totals were:
1,008,836 cattle; 649,994 sheep, and
2,453,704 hogs. However, there was
a decrease in the number of cattle
and hogs slaughtered at these- abba-
toirs. The packers are said to be
making increased efforts to improve
the quality of the products they turn
out. More of, the finished and pre-
pared meats ready for the table are
being manufactured, looking to the
development of the'home market.

found everything in good condition,
which bespeaks well for Mr. Parry
