Who died on Monday, at Windsor,
Aged 64 years.
„Late Daniel Gingerich
There passed unto his Heavenly
reward, at his home on the Bronson
Lino, •Hay „ Township, on Tuesday,.
February 19th„ Daniel Gingerich,'
aged 64 years and 9 months. The
departed was in the act of going out
to the barn. in the forenoon, and when
he Wa8 going to open the door of the
house he- became stricken with an
attack of heart failure, and died very
shortly thereafter, having been troub-
led with. heart affliction' more or less
for the west year or sq. Deceased
was a lifelong resident of the com-
munity, having been born on the old
Gingerich homestead, Bronson Line,
Stanley, now occupied by his brother
Mr. Chris. Gingerich, and was well
and favorably known as- an. honest
.
and riapright citizen, and "b.eing„ a geed
neighbor. - His immediate: relatives
who mourn his loss are as follows:
His widow, Mrs.. Gingerich, two sons;
Edwin and Aaron Gingerich of the
.Bronson Line, Hay; two daughters,
Mrs. Val. Gerber, Stanley Township,
and Mrs. Moses Gerber of the Goshen
Line north of Zurich; three brothers,
John and Chris\t. Gingerich of Stan-
ley Township; and Jacob Gingerich
of 'Oregeon; also three sisters, Mrs. C.
Schrag of the Goshen Line, north;
Mrs. M. Kipfer, and Miss Nancy Gin-
gerich of Stanley Township. The re-
mains were laid to rest in the Amish
Mennonite burial graunds, Bronson
Line, Ha,y-on Friday afternoon with
Bishop Steinman, of St. Agatha in
charge, and being assisted by Rev.
Bushart, Of Baden. 'r •
927 there were 659 pedestea-
ms killed in New York City, and
16,609 injured, according to the
police stastics. Rapid travel is ra-

chener is visiting at the home of Mr.
and MI* W. C. Wagner.
Mr. and Mrs. Yule of Fullerton
are spending the week at the home of
Mr. E. E. Weido.
Mr. W. J. Merner is at Windsor at-
tendingthe funeral of his brother,
Mr. J. J. Merner, ex-M.P.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Weber and dau-
ghter of: Hensel]. spent Sunday at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Louis' Weber.
Councillor Wm. R. Dougall, of
Hensall was a Sunday visitor at the
hi:Mee of Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Williams
of town.
We are pleased to note that Mr. Jac
ob Kipfer, who was seriously ill far
semen:ibises, is improving as well as
can, .be expec led.
The sitting of the Tenth Division
Court .seheduled for Zurich on Tues-
day last, was postponed on account of
the condition of the. road being im-
paSsable for the outos.
Mrs. T. L. Wurin has returned
from. Bayfield, where she was in at-
tendance at the bedside of her mother
TiVirs.:Wootis, who had a severe attack
Of pneumonia, and we are sorry. to
say nased away. •
Mr. 'Neebit Woods of 'Toronto and
Mr. DC. L. Woods of Detroit, attend-
ed the funeral of their mother, the
late Met Woods at Bayfield. They
also visited- at the home of Mr. and
Mrs, T. L. Wurm for a few days. Mr.
Woods of Detroit having motored
over.
Mr. Ward Fritz was to Oshawa last
week and returninh with a new
Chevrolet sedan car, which is com-
manding attention and admiration.
C. Fritz and Son are looking forward
for a big season of sales with this pop-
ular six cylinder car, which has the
distinction of being the lowest priced
six on the market to -day, and the big
concern of General Motors Co., have
now discontinued building a four cy-
linder car.
Mrs. Jacob Ort Passes
Marie Schaake, relict of the late
Jacob Ort departed this life, after
an illness of a few months duration,
on Monday, February 25th, aged 85
years, 7 months and 10 days, at the
home of her son-in-law and daughter
Mr. and Mrs. Alfed Melick just north
of the village, where she had spent
the winter months. In 1868 she came
to New Hamburg, Ont., from Ger-
many and in 1870 was united in
marriage to Jacob Ort, with whom
she lived in happy union for 41 years
Mr. Ort passing away 18 years ago.
Three sons and four daughters were
given them, two sons, Henry and
John predeceased. For 30 years Mr.
and Mrs. Ort lived in Blenheim Tp.,
when they came to Hay Tp.;- to' the
farin now occupied by Mr. and Mrs.
John Eckstein, Bronson Line. Later
they moved to Zurich where Mr. Ort
died in 1911, During the last unm-
ber of years Mrs. Ort found very coin
fortable homes with her children.
Practically all her life she was a de-
voted and sincere chilstian, and a
member of the Evangelical church,
and she was well prepared to go home
to glord when the Master said the
word. Those surviving her are: One
son, Jacob Ort of Pontiac, Mich; 4
daughters: Mrs, Solomon Eidt, Elkton
Mich.; Mrs. Jacob Smith, Detroit,
Mich.; Mies D. Melsaac, Crediton and
Mrs. A. Melick, of Zurich. 25 grand
children and 12 great grand children
also survive as well as many near fri-
ends and relatives, The funeral is be-
ing held this Wednesday afternoon in
charge of Rev. W. Y, Dreier, assisted
by Rev. W. M. Sippell o Crediton.
Memorial services taking place at the
Evangelical church, and interment
made at the Bronson Line cemetery,
beside the resting place of her late
husband. The bereft have the sym-
ljathy of their friends in the loss of
their beloved mother and grand,
mother,.
