Heart of Man The heart of man resembles a secret chamber 'wherein stands—like the block of white =hewn marble set in the studio of a sculptor—a veiled figure. Though the man may not se much as life the corner of the veil, yet he forever and in secret work to fashion and form the figure that lies beneath. And the figure is the oul of the roan, and the unveiling thereof is called death; and until the figure be unveiled, the man scarce knoweth what manner of man he is.—Coulson New -York :s Paying High to be o "Time . The charge is 5 cents. If a subscriber calls up Meridian 1212, and a honey -voiced operator replies, "The time Is now 3.51," his telephone is charged with a local Tall. During the first seven days that Meridian 1212 was in operation, there were 77,160 request's for the time, which means that New York resi- dents spent $3,353 for the knowledge thus retailed. Mothers who keep a box of Baby's Own Tablets in the .house may feel that the lives of their little ones are reasonably safe during the hot wea- ther. Stomach troubles, +cholera in- fantum and diarrhoea carry off thou- sands of little ones every summer, in most cases because the mother does not ,have a safe medicine at gland to give promptly. Baby's Own Tablets relieve these troubles, or if given oc- casionally to the well child they will prevent their coming on. The Tablets are guaranteed to be absolutely harm- less even to the new-born babe. They are especially good in summer be- ' cause they regulate the bowels and keep the stomach sweet and pure. They are sold by medicine dealers or by mail at 25 cents a box from The Dr. Williams' Medicine Co., Brock- ville, Ont. The bill provides for the removal of agents not coming under these classes and is expected to provoke a lively discus- sion in the Legislative Assembly in September. Agents will be asked to execute a bond giving security for good be- haviour until their removal from India, failing which they will be detained in custody. The breaking of such a bond will render the agent liable to arrest without warrant and to maximum im- prisonment of a year in'addition to a fine, but the prosecuting authority can only be the Governor-General in Coun- cll. • No order for removal can be ques- tioned in any court while the officers acting under the law will be protected against legal proceedings for actions Performed in good faith. War- ner, said, "and will go to any lengths to apprehend and punish those re- sponsible. We are broadcasting the announcement of the reward from every amateur station In the league chain, and we hope, in that way to get colnething definite and concrete to work on." ,Mr. Warner also declared that, should the person or persons who sent the fake messages be apprehend- ed, the Radio League will take an ,active part in the criminal prosecu- tion and will ask that the extreme ,penalty for the crime be Imposed. The high grass between the hedge. rows was very wet, the foxgloves against the stone walls drooping with their load of dew. As she was mount. ing the stairway made of flat stones over the second ledge, she heard hew first lark. The bird had swooped up, and was singing, singing as he climbed higher and higher. She sat on the Rat top of the stile, looking up to- wards the sky and listening to .the warbiings, fainter and fainter. Just as the poets had told her, singing as all her life she had dreamed they would sing. The three sisters stood waiting for her to climb ov"er the ledge..
