Mr. and Mrs. N. Cook were recent

A. W. E. Hemphill attended the
Druggist's Convention in London the
past week, where ther were splendid

dent of this village and now of Van-
couver, is here on a visit and his

'The annual meeting of the South
Huron Liberal Association is being
held.in the town hall here this Wed-
nesday afternoon. The meeting ap-
plies to both Federal and Provincial.
Mary Foster, who had the misfor-
tune to be in a inotor accident the
other evening, received painful cuts
on her face requiring a number of
stitches, but is doing as well as can
be expected.

Ralph Chapman, son of the late
William Chapman, late of the Town-
ship of Hay, ie here on a visit from
San Francisco, Cal. As it is some
22 years since Mr; Chapman left
here he sees great changes and im-
provements and has a good recollect-
ion of Hensall 22 years ago.
Mr, and Mrs. J, W. Skinner are
visiting relatives in Owen Sound.
The ball game played on the local
diamond the other evening with the
Clinton team was won by Hensall,

A very pretty wedding took place
on Wednesday last, at the home of
the bride's parents, when Miss Alma
Irene, daughter, of Mr. and Mrs. J.
Harding, was united in marriage to
Mr. Frederick Arthur Runde', of
IIaberne.
The death took place in Exeter,
on June 4th of an esteemed resid-
ent in the person of Andrew Hod-
gert; aged 69 years, 1 month and 8
days. He had been ailing for a-
bout six . weeks with heart trouble,
which later jdeveloped into ganger
ine, two weeks ago he was taken to
London Hospital and treated, but of
no .avail,was born in Usborne Tp.,
and was united in marriage to Janet
Laing who predeceased him in 1911.
The community was : shocked to
learn ,of the sudden death of ivtrs.
James H. Greives on Friday last.
The same afternoon she had motored
to .Clinton with her husband, where
she took ill and soon passed away.
COUNTY NEWS.
The June sitting of the County
Court was held on Tuesday last and
was very brief, lasting a little over
an hear. Judge Lewis presided.
Three .cases were on the docket and
were soon disposed off.
The Bell family re -union held at
the :home of Mr. and Mrs. W. J.
Veal, of Winchelsea, on Saturday
last was pulte a successful gathering
about 75 being present.
On Sunday, June 10th, 1900, Rev.
F. H. Larkin, D. D., preached his
firct sermon as Minister in First
Presbyterian Church, Seaforth, and
on Sunday, June 10th, 1928,.he dos-
ed a ministry. of 28 years in that
church.
A charming June wedding took pl-

Edward Boyce, Brucefield, when
their youngest daughter, Mabel Ann
became the bride of Mr. Wilmer T.
Reid, youngest son of Mr. and Mar.

John R. Bone, managing editor of
the Toronto Daily Star, and former-
ly a Huron County boy, died very
suddenly at his home in that city.
For 21 years he acted as managing
editor of that paper and was a son
of the late John Bone and was born
and, reared on the farm in .Est
Wawanosh. - --
The spring meeting of the Seaforth
Turf Association was held on the
Driving Park of that place on Wed-
nesday last and was the most lare'-
ely at—tended and successful race
meet held in years. • Every town
and village for miles around was
represented, and there was are un-
usually large attendance from the
country, and the races competitions
were very keeen. -
Thos Butters, of Dublin, had a
miracluous escape from instant
death the other day, when his cloth-
ing became entangled in some shaft-
ing at Mr. Tyler's creamery. Mr. But
tler's clothing, was torn to shreds and
he escaped with some bad bruises
and a nasty cut in the head.
,The Federation of the Home and
School Clubs of Goderich, Clinton,
Seaforth and Exeter met for a picnic
at Bayfield on the afternoon of,
June 19th.
Arrangements are being made for
the holding of a monster celebration
in Exeter on .Monday, July lst, A
calathumpian procession will be held
in the morning followed by a short
patroitic address, singing by the
school children, and a baseball game.
In the afternoon a ball tournament
will be held together with two
races, one a green race and the
other a fast race.
Mr. and Mrs. Gao. Hayes and daft-
ghter, of the London Road, south of
Exeter, left last week by auto for
a trip to the Pacific Coast. They
expect to be gone about two months
and will visit with the latter's bro-
ther at Gull Lake., Sask., and" with
the forzner's parents in British Col-
umbia. Mr. Hayes has disposed' of
his large strawberry field to Mr. Mor
gan of Crediton.
In addition to the big' internation-
al baseball game, a feature of the
Dominion Day celebration in Goder-
ich will be the tug -of -War competit-
ion for the cup donated last year by
the Huron Old Boy's Association of
Toronto and at present held by the
Ashfield team, which they won in the
Centennial Week pull. Any munic-
ipality in the county may enter a
team in this competition., which will
be on the afternoon program at
Agricultural Park.
Henry Strang, the efficient clerk
of Usborne Pp., together with Arm.
Strang' left for a trip to the Pacific
Coast, where they will visit their
daughter, Mrs. P. E. Biles; of
,Rivers Inlet and will also yisit other
