If it is desirable to clo, away with the present system of electing county commissioners, and have the mayors of towns and reeves of townships form our county coun- cil, the several councils of the dif- ferent municipalities in the county will be obliged to pass a resolution not later than the lst day of Oc- tober next, abolishing the present system. Some of the membersof Huron County Council are of opin- ion that a change is not desirable, because the present system is bet- ter than the old one. The trouble -which has oconred in the potato plots at the Ontario Agricultural college far; u is not similar to the blight, which has been so common over Ontario. It is something new and is of bacteria origin. The earlier indications are a softening of the skin of the potato and the appearance of yellow in the leaf. It completely destroys the potato. The disease has been found in two or three plots near Guelph, but has not been reported anywhere else as yet. Prof. Harrison is now at work on the case for the purpose of discovering an effective treat- ment. Ho I Everybody. • Why not get your tires set cold? It does away with burnt rims and blistered paint.
