TEETOTALISl1•I AMONG ROYALTY It is stated by a London corres- pondent that Queen Victoria of Spain does not know the taste of alcohol. Her special "tipple" is made from oranges—the fresh fruit squeezed into a glass, which is filled up with aerated waters. Oranges are her favorite fruit, and at Cowes she was accustomed to eat them freely. For years Princess Henry of Battenburg was a teetotaler, but of late she has suffered so much from rheumatism that she has been or- dered a little 'whiskey, which she regards as a penance. Both Prin- cess Christian's daughters, too, are teetotalers. The Princess of Wales, who is an exceedingly considerate mistress, once dismissed an under -nurse on the spot, because, contrary to in- structions, she had given Prince Edward, when he was five, a sip of. the wine allowed her for lunch. All the children of the Prince and Princess are being brought up strict teetotalers, and save for the one taste of wine Prince Edward had from his nurse, they know nothing of alcohol. Princess Patricia of Connaught and her married sister also abjixre wine, Another royal teetotaler is the Duohess of Argyll, and the young daughters of the Princess Royal. their Highnesses Alexandra and Maud, have never in their lives touched wine. Do not forget to call and see, D. S. Faust display of chinaware. DASHWOOD On Friday night the choir of the Evangelical church re -organized and eleoted the following officers : Pres., Miss Lizzie Finkbeiner vice - Pres., Miss Trasa Miller; Sec. and Treas., W. Miller ; Organist, Miss M. Ehlers; Leader, Rev. L. K. idt ; Assistant, 0 Oestreicher. Rev. A. D. Gischler of Zurich, preaohed here on Sunday morning, while Rev. Eidt, took charge of the work at Zurich, administering the sacrament of the Lord's Sup- MUS/0 ger to the adherents of that congre- pation. On Sunday Dec. 13th, the new Lutheran church of this village, will be opened and dedicated. There will he three services on Sunday in connection therewith at 10.30. o'clock, a service in the German language, at 3 o'clock, an English and German service, and at 7.30. a servico in the German language. There wilt be several different speakers from other appointments. The church building in itself is one of the finest in this section of the country, and will reflect great credit on the congregation. We hope the day set for the dedication may be ideal in every respect, and that the number who congregate on that occasion, will be such as will test the seating capacity of the spacious structure. riI h 5 V.
