There was no preaching service in tho Evangelical church last Sunday evening, owing to the pas- tor conducting revival meetings in the 14th Con. Mr. and Mrs. Justus Deniuth, of Ashland, Wis., arrived here, on Monday for a visit with relatives and friends. They were former residents of Zurich, and their many friends will be pleased to see them. The smoke stack at the grist mill blew down on Monday after noon, during the heavy wind. The roof of the dynamo annex was punctured and the stack is a wreck It is only 3 years since it was put up and was of very heavy iron, but the use of soft coal is very hard on iron. Merchants are making bitter complaints about the condition in which many farmers bring their fowl to market. These are frequent- ly fed before killed , so that the crop is full of fermented seeds. Perhaps those who market their poultry in this condition do not know that they are liable to prose- cution for this offence against laws and decency. Mr. Wickwire of the Exeter Times, called at our office on Wed- nesday. Semi annual election ,of officers of the Y. P A of the Evangelical church, will take place ou Tuesday evening at 8 p. m, Messrs. H. Volland Jr.: and N. Foster Jr , have purchased. 50 acres of land in the 8th Con., frown Mr. S. Ronnie. Mr. and Mrs J. Diller, fernier re- sidents of this Township were town on Monday, on the way to Dashwood to visit Mr. Fred Gass. man. Mr. Diller is living near Pigeon, Mich. Fire destroyed Mr. L,, Etavelie's store at Grand Bend. on Saturday night, together with all the con- tents. The stock and building was fnlIy covered by insurance. Mr Rae-011Ws dwelling just south of the store, was badly scorched but was saved after a hard fight. The cause of the fire is not known.
