• A news item in the daily papers
of last Saturday reports a fatal ac-
cident which happened to the 12
year old son of Geo. Katzenmeir,
of Rodney. The little lad had
crawled under a train at the station
in that town and before he got
clear of the track the train started
and his two legs were cut off. He
died soon afterwards. Mr. Katzen-
meir and his son were visiting in
Zurich a few months ago, b being
the guests of Mr. E. Appel

Rev. W. J. Yager, a. former pas-
tor of the Evangelical church here,
and now stationed. at New Ham-
burg, had a very unpleasant experi-
ence a week ago last Sunday. He
attempted to cross Helmer's bridge
where the water flowed over the
street, the river having risen to a
great height on account of the
heavy rains. He could not get
through incl had to unhitch the
horse and leave the buggy: and
was rescued by neighbors with a
boat. The buggy was 'recov:ered
after the flood had abated.
