MAD DOG SCARE.
"Owing .to the . prevalence of
rabies among !dogs in a number of
places, Mayor McCallum has issued
a proclamation requiring all dogs
in Seaforth eithez to be tied up or
muzzled. Dogs fond at large
without a muzzle will be destroy-
ed.
estroyed. A similar •proclamation has
been issued in the township of
McKillop. Dog owners should
take warning and govern them
selves accordingly if they do not
wish to have their canines destroy-
ed. This is a wise precaution,
Mad dog scares have been all too
plentiful throughout the province,
and have been gradually getting
closer to ns, and it is better to, take
precautions than to have trouble."
The above item is clipped from
last week's ..Expositor and our
Township Council should also .pass
a by-law to restrain dogs from
running at large. The danger is
real and •no chances should be
taken. It is • only a few weeks
ago that a dog was shot here that
showed signs of rabies, and proetected
public ought to be be p nt
to the full extent of the power of
the municipality. We should not
wait until it is too late, and im-
mediate action is necessary for
the sake of eoon.aany if for nothing
else. One mun.eipality in Kent
County has voted ' 1500 00. to de-
fray the cost of s-.nding a number
of children tc the Pasteur In
stitute.
