THE 110SPITAI FUND
QT1 Smiday •evening last, the Rev.,,
Mr. Cra.gg took occasion to refer t
the recent party held the town hall
in the interest of the Hospital Fund.
He said he did not iotend to spealt on
dancing, be would refer to this whole
subject at a later thne., nor did he
intend to criticize the holding of priv-
ate euchre and dancing parties. He
wahted this etrening to refer to the
holding of such finictions under the
auspice's of either the,'Hospital, Red
Cross or other public benevolences.
'3'he Methodist church has always
stood. opposed to questionable amuse -
intents and therefore, when. such fonct-
ions were held, under the auspices of
these most worthy institutions, it
meant that the rnerribers of the church
had either to refuse tro litty the tickets
and thus appear uninterested in these
wOrthy appeals or else to buy con-
trary to their conscientious scruples,
He urged therefore, that a more dig-
nified and worthy method, be adopted
for the raising, of funds for our Public
benevolences, SQ that the members
of the Methodist Church might have
a part and laC in them, lui the course
of his brief statements Cragg
paid. a very high compliment to the
hospital and its staff. At the con-
clttsion of the statement Mr. J. A.
Morton. said. Ite 'endorsed every state-
ment made by the pastor. He re-
garded the hospital as teligious work,
and always felt that: these forms of
raising money for•ft were inconsistent
and -wrong. He moved therefore that
our church take an offering next
Sunday in tlie interest of the' Hospital
Fund, so that all our niembers might
