1932, 4913 and 1914, tried to learxrfan-
cy skating frons books. 1915 won ci-
ty of Saskatoon Race Championship
and skated for Saskatchewan winning

"1916 Saskatchewan Championship,
April 3916 joined 96th Batt. and went
overseas and was transfered tee 21st.
Batt. in France. On July 17, 1917 I
Was wounded and later my leg was
amputated about 6 inches above the
knee. Month of Hospital. For three
days there was ice at the convales-
cent hospital in England and I was
out with my skate, at that tithe it was
a real task to- even stand. up for half
a minute at a time. T' returned to
Canada June 1918: and. in, December
got some skating on Whitby Bay at
the. hospital there. I practiced con-
tinually. When I was fitted with to
artifical lirrib I was returned to my
Military District in the West and on
the • first day i of 1919 I gave rrly: first
professional exhibition '•before about
3000 hockey' fans in Calgary. Since
then each winter I have given on an
