CADET INSPECTION AT HIGH.' SCHOOL' Monday afternoon was one of in- terest to the pupils and staff of Wingham High School, when Major J, Jeffrey, District Cadet Officer, of London, made his official visit. Ear- ly in the afternoon he watched the young girls go through a very pretty drill, dance a Scotch Reel, and do some club swinging and physical training exercises, ,all of which were exceptionally well done. These ex- ercises are an essential part of pres- ent day education, giving every part' of the body the necessary action to develop physical statue, Afterwards the ,Cadet corps went through several mane usecure-fav- orable a manner tocur fav anse e orable comment. The work of the signalling corps and first aid corps was particularly well done.: After the inspection Major Jeffrey gave a short talk to the cadets, emphasizing the benefits to accrue from the train- ing` they received, which is just as necessary as the instruction given in the class rooms. This is not a mil- itary affair in the least; 'there is no teaching of fighting or war -like pre- parations. The only military aspect of the matter is in certain words used in giving orders, which can be best expressed in this way. Obedience, discipline, training, and the full dev- elopement of the body will do much to the cadets in preparation for life's sterner duties when school days are past. Then headed by the newly or- ganized Huron Regiment Bugle Band, after a parade around .the grounds, the corps marched down town, the envy of the small boy, and delight of the parents, BLYTH Mrs. Britne]l, of Vancouver, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Dr. Wilford. B. and Mrs. Hawkins, of Forest are visiting their many friends in this vicinity. Rev, and Mrs. C. C. Laine visited friends in town on Monday..
