In the year 1912 the Winghara EIec- tric System, was placed 'under a com- mission, and at this' time the' cam- mission inaugurated twenty-four hour service. The commission carried on for a few years when the system was given a place under the control of the Corporation council; During the u-ar period the demand. forpo p taer became so great real and the cost of fuel became so high that the municipality undertook a vigorous campaign to have Hydro power come to Wingham. This campaign reached its consummation in the 3 -ear 1920, and the outcome of it was the instal- lation of Hydro power. In that year the entire system was placed under the control of the commission; and two members of the commission have held office ever since. Hydro power in Wingham has dis- placed practically every type of prime mover that•1ZTas in 'existence at the time Hydro was installed. Practically 93 ce of the residences and shops in Wingham are lighted by electricity; and, only one small shop is using other than Hydro power. Possible extensions that will be made in the near future will include a line from Wingham to Blues-al'e and on through to Wroxeter and Bel - more. At present ?l•inghan's Hydro service is extended to 495 domestic user, 16o commerical uses and 25 pow- er users. That residents of \V inghatu f recognize the advantage of the freer use of Hydro power is demonstrated :by the fact that there are r_E electric washing machines nn use in the town, The service throughout the town is under the direction of Mr, H. Camp- bell, who enjoys the confidence os the Commission in so much that they are largely guided in their admini- strations by his advice_ Visitors to Wingliam are always assured a hearty welcome, whether they go for the purpose of lookidg into the bucine.s, possibilities of the town or simply to spend a few hours of leisure: 3 Barbers NO WAITING Our Motto is "Service" at q HABICIRWS BARBER SHOP Tinsrnithing Plumbing We have recently opened a itasmi`t.bitlg and Plumbing Shop the -store formerly occupied by BELL'S MUSIC STORE and solicita share of your pat- ronage: k & Edgar AriC-ING WINGHA A' RA ..,r to .,,u.__ HAROLD SitINNER'S EL W'A .E,l', BOYS THURSbAY• NIGHT DURING sum y Dancing, • FRED DAV'EY Village Clerk Issuer of Marriage Licenses The law now requires the license :be taken out three daYs 'before the ceremony. u.
