Of all the bugs or worms or slugs, With which our earth is cursed, I think I may with safety say The June bug is the worst. The spiders crawl upon the wall, The eaterpillers creep, And bats delight to fly by night, But none disturb our sleep. The ants may steal their midnight meal From frosting on our pies, Tito' we object we have respect For little things so wise: The little moths upon ottr path We never seek to crush; The crickets sing beside the spring Their music none would hush. But oh those bugs„ those horny drugs That prowl around at night, And bump their heads above ottr beds. And wake us with a fright, I fain would sweep them in the deep An have a consience clear, And sweetly rest in safety blest Tlie balance of the year. They watch their banks fol' and erank's, 'Bootleggers they ensnare, But for this pest that steals Nobody seems to care:' And so because our linty laws Will let titetn do their worst, Let every man slay all he can, Attd, practice "Safety first".
