en's Association of the Knox United
Church, Belgrave, was held at . the
home of Mrs, Carl Procter, when
there was 'a fair attendance present.
The meeting was in charge of the
president, Mrs. Finlay ,McCallum.
Several items of business were dealt
with among then being a dicision to
purchase material to help in relief
work, At the close of the meeting a
social time was spent during which
lunch was served by the hostess as-
sisted by Mrs. 3. M, Coultes and Mrs.
H. Wheeler. The December meeting
will be held at the home of Mrs. G.
Jordan.

Euchre and Dance Success
The first euchre and dance of the
season was held on Friday night un-
der the auspices of the True Blue
Lodge and was well attended. The
prizes were won by Mrs. Harry Camp
bell and John Leitch. After lunch
music was supplied by the Jackson
orchestra and dancing was enjoyed..
Miss Annie McDowell has return-
ed home after visiting friends in Ayl-
mer, St. Catherines and Stratford.
W. M. Henry is in attendance at
the Royal Winter Fair, Toronto,
where he is exhibiting sheep.
A little girl has arrived at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. 'Harold Procter.
Goldie Wheeler spent the week -end
at his home here,
The regular meeting of the Bel-
grave Women's Institute will be held.
on Tuesday, Nov. 29th, at the home
of Mrs. Stewart Procter. The' roll,
call will be "Say, Sing -or Pay:"
Mrs. Bissett, District President, of
Goderich, will visit the branch at this

Threshing Red Clover
Last season mechanical injury was
reported in red clover seed which
came from Central Ontario. The
seed was broken or chipped and com-
plaints of podr germination as a re-
sult were received from Great Bri-
tain. An investigation conducted by
John D. McLeod of that department-
al staff indicates that too early
threshing is largely responsible for
the injury and also 'unsatitable and
poorly -adjusted threshers. Down in
the Ottawa 'Valley nothing like this
has been reported and Mr. McLeod
attributes both the lack of damage
and generally large retuns per acre
to the fact that red clover is never
part through the thresher until win-
ter weather has set in and the crop
is thoroughly dry. Also he recom-
mends that the job be done with a
,huller or with a machine with a clo-
ver attacheinent. Putting red clover
through an ordinary threshed is con-
dernned as wasteful,

Fine Opportunity For the Junior
Farmers of Ontario
"Economic Production and Mar-
keting df Live Stock with special
emphasis on Marketing" is the name
of a new short course planned es-
pecially for wideawake young farm-
ers of Ontario by the Ontario Agri-
cultural College. This course has
been planned because of the oppor-
tueities how opening up as a result
of the Imperial Conference at Ot-
tawa. It will cover in an excellent
way many matters pertaining to the
production and marketing of live
stock and will include the best use
of farm land and equipment for the
efficient production of feed for live
stock. In addition to lectures and
discussions by members o fthe Coll-
ege Faculty and other leading auth-
orities in Canada, there will be daily
demonstrations covering:
Types and classification of meat
animals,

Slaughtering different types of
meat animals,
Cutting and curing meat (including'
commercial cats).
Best use of fanning mills and oth-
er seed -cleaning equipment.
