Mrs„ Tilos Ross Passes
The funeral of the late Mrs. Thos.
Ross, of Culross, was held on Thurs-
day last from Knox Presbyterian
Church, Teeswater, the services be-
ing taken by her pastor, Rev, Dr.
Forbes and Rev. K. MacLean, of
Wingharn. The deceased, who was
highly respected by all who knew
her, suffered intensely during the
past year and went through two op-
erations far the dreaded disease of
cancer. Before her marriage, she
was Thomasina Harkness, and be-
sides her husband and one son, Jas.,
Reeve of Teeswater, she leaves two
sisters, Mrs. Win, Caslick, of Tees-
water, Mrs.
John Caslick of Culross, ,.
and four brothers, George, of Lang
side, John, of

Culross and Bert of Flint, Mich.,
all
of whom wereresent for P o the funer-
al, al, which was largely attended. The

Women's Institute Meeting

'The President, Mrs. Grain, was in
-the chair. After the opening exer-

the first prize and gave her recipe
for the potato or vegetable salad, and
Mrs. Robt. Ross won the second
prize for tier salad, which was a fruit
salad. The contest held for the
grandmothers, giving them ten min-
utes to cast on 60 stitches for a sock
and knit five rounds, was won by
Mrs, Mac Ross. The hostess served
lunch and a social half-hour was very
much enjoyed by all,
Mrs. Wm, Barbour is visiting her
daughter, Mrs. Ben McClenaghan.

A meeting of the school Fair Of-
ficers and teachers was held Thurs-
day evening in the Foresters' Hall,
with the President, C. R. Coultes, in
the chair, Plans were completed for
the Schol Fair which will be held on
Thursday, Sept, 29th, This is one
of the best School Fairs in the coun-
ty and is always looked forward to
with great interest. A splendid pro-
gram for the concert in the evening
is being prepared.
Mrs. Leslie Wighttnan is introduc-
ing Dr. Olivers book "His Domin-
ion of Canada" at the W.M.S. meet-
ing on Friday. Refreshments and
music included in the program.
The Y.P.S. is planning to resume
its meetings and has planned for a
Rally Service on the first Sunday in
October,
The Belgrave branch of the. Wo-
men's Institute wil hold their regular
meeting ' on Tuesday, Sept, 20th, at
the home of Mrs. Jesse Wheeler. The
motto for the day "Whatsoever
things are lovely, set your heart on
these things" and wilt be taken by
.Mrs, James 'Taylor. The roll call,
Famous Canadian Women, Current
events, taken by Miss G. Armstrong.
