Grant occupied the pulpit, following his vacation. .Four members of the choir; Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Jordan, Cela Coultes and Jno. M. Coultes sang a very, approp- riate number which was much ap- preciated. In the evening Mr. Basil Coultes, of Buffalo, sang a solo. An- niversary services will be held in the church on Sunday, Sept. 18th. Mr, and Mrs. R. Yule and Berne, have left on their vacation, part of which will be spent in the southern States. Mr, Moon is relieving agent at the C. N. R. during Mr, Yule's absence. Mr. Donald `Young, of London, was a holiday visitor with Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Young and fancily. Mr. and Mrs. Jas. McGill visited with Mr. and Mrs. A. Nethery in Hamilton and. also attended the wed- ding of their nephew in Toronto, on Saturday. A. number from here attended the Ex, at Toronto, during the past week, Miss Louise McKenzie has return- ed to her school in Sturgeon Falls, after her summer vacation with her parents here. Mr, James Lawrence; : of Buffalo, was a week -end visitor with :J. T. Bell and other friends, Mr, Basil Coultes•of Buffalo, spent Sunday with C. R, Coultes and fam- ily, and also visited with his broth- er, J. T. Coultes and Mrs. Coultes, Residents of the community were saddened on Saturday morning when it became known that Mrs. Robert Geddes: had passed away. Mrs. Ged- des whose maiden name was Mary Clark, had not been in good health for some time, but, despite all that loving care could do, she was not able to recover. She leaves to mourn her death, her husband and three daughters; Isabel, Annie and Edna, to whom the sympathy of all is ex- tended in their sorrow. The funeral was held from Knox United Church Monday afternoon. C. R. Coultes shipped a car of cat- tle on Monday and was .in Toronto Tuesday. Mrs. Moore, of Guelph, and nurse F. McCrea, of Alexandria Hospital, London, were calling on old friends in the village last week. Mrs. Joe Little, Winthrop, spent a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Geddes. MacDonald entertained about forty ladies of the Woman's Assoc- iation of the United Church, The meeting which was . held on the lawn, was presided over by the President, Mrs. Joseph Breckenridge, After the opening hymn, the regular monthly business -was transacted. During the afternoon a quilt was quilted by the ladies. At the close of the meeting the ladies were invit- ed inside where small tables were laid and dainty refreshments were served by Mrs. MacDonald and her spoke on China, and . gave a most daughter, Mrs. Harold Lawson.'
