The whooping cough seems to be
spreading around the children in
this community.
Mr. John Gaunt, who has been Iaid
up with measles at Auburn, spent
Sunday at his home here.
On Sunday Miss Whatling, a Mis-
sionary on furlough, from Jnanfi, In-
dia, addressed the congregations at
Langside, Calvin and Chalmer's
Churches. She was especially inter-
esting, as she comes from where Mr.
Angus Mackay, son of Mr, and Mrs,
Hector Mackay, is also stationed.

spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Eli
Jacques.

Mrs. Stricker, who has been visit-
ing with her sister, Mrs. Ed. Gaunt,
for the past two weeks, returned to

her home in Windsor on Friday.
The Summer School at Camp Kin-
tail, was concluded on Sunday even-
ing, and those who had been attend-
ing from here, returned to their sev-
eral homes, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Mc-
Innis and babe of Teeswater, spent
Sunday with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Dan Mclnnis.
Miss Mary Simpson of Teeswater,
spent the week -end with her aunt,
Mrs, Jas. Wilson,
Mr. and Mrs. Musgrove and M.r.
and Mrs. Wm. Greer, of Wingham,
spent Sunday at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Henry. Mr. Henry'
is improving as well as can be ex-

BLUEVALE
The regular meeting of the Wo -
'men's Institute was held on Thurs-
day afternoon at the Imme of Miss
Cora Jewitt with a good average at-
tendance. The president, Mrs. Alex.
Mowbray presiding. After the reg-
ular opening exercises and a few it-
ems of business the secretary read
the roll and the ladies responded by
giving their experience of "How to
Keep Floors Fresh and Bright," Miss
Olive Scott then gave a paper on
"Linen and Its Care," dealing with
the manufacture of linen and the dif-
ferent qualities. How to wash, iron
and fold damask. Leslie Hethering-
ton led in a discussion on Vegetables
and the best methods of cooking
them, in order to retain all the health
properties contained in vegetables.
This discussion was very helpful,
Mrs. Stanley Gallahar gave a very
clear, concise account of the District
annual meeting stressing the points
brought out in the address given by
Mrs. Hayes, the Government speak-
er. After some community singing
and the National Anthem the hostess
served refreshments, assisted by
Mrs. Robt, McKinnon.
Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Carr, Miss
Dorothy and Master Wilson Carr, of
Toronto and Mrs. J. A. Wilson, of
Stratford, are visitors at the home
of Mrs. MacDonald, being guests at
the Lawson -Wilson wedding.
Mrs. Alice Aiticin and Mrs. W. J.
Duff were week -end visitors with
friends at Ottawa.
