Chorus of which one of our towns-

over the week -end were, Mrs. Lee-
son, Miss Ethel and Mr. Wilfred
Leeson, Toronto, also Miss Evelyn
Gamble, Pordwich.
Mr. and Mrs. T. Hemphill spent
the holiday at Port Elgin and Owen
Sound.
Mr. Allan Munroe, Dr. John Mun-
roe acid Mr. 3. N. Allen, motored to
Toronto and Hamilton on Thursday,
Dr, Munroe remained at Hamilton,
where he will be engaged in Hospi-
tal work for the', coming year.
On Sunday morning St. James
Church was the scene of a beautiful
and impressive service when a large
congregation were present and some
18 candidates were received into
membership by confirmation. The
service was in charge of the Rector,
Rev. R. Jones and Rev. C, A. Sea-
ger, Bishop of Huron, who preached
an inspiring sermon, choosing for
his text, "For I say unto you, that
except your righteousness shall ex-
ceed the righteousness of the Scribes
and Pharisees ye shall in no case
enter into the Kingdom of heaven,
St. Math, 5:20. A united choir from
the three charges sang "There were
Ninety and Nine."
Mrs. Frank Mitchell and two dau-
ghters, of Detroit, formerly of Wro-
xeter, are week -end guests with Mrs.
T. Mealten and other friends
Misses E. and K, Hazlewood were
Harriston visitors on Thursday.
The local L.O.L. will hold their
annual Church service in St. James'
Church on Sunday evening next at
7.30 o'clock when the Rev. E. S.
Hayes of Wingham, District Chap-
lain, will be the preacher.
Miss Alice Hodgson, of Guelph,

Dr. and Mrs. W. A. Spence, Tor-,
onto, were week -end guests of R. J.

Miss Beatrice Howe, of Leaming-
ton, arrived in town on Saturday for
the holidays.
Mr. John L. AlcEwen was a
Guelph visitor last week,
Mr. H. Waller received word from
Mrs. Waller and Katie, to say they
had arrived in England, after a
pleasant voyage, although the wea-
ther was very cool, without much
sunshine. They are now enjoying a
visit with relatives and friends at
their former home in the old land.
Dr. Frank Allan, of the Mayo
Brothers staff, Rochester, Min., vis-
ited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G.

trip to Boston where he was accom

The Strawberry Festival held in
Gorrie under the auspices of the Un-
ited Church, was a decided success
in every way. The program which
was put on by the Listowel Male
Chorus, was a first class program,
and sure was a treat for those pres-
ent.

proceeds at the gate were $5;90. One
accident marred the pleasure:' of the
