working at Mr. Fisher's at Kurtzville

back, and will spend a week at the

Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Halliday of

home of Mr. and Mrs. White.
Mrs. Black of Harriston, called on
friends in town last week.
Mr. Campbell of Stratford, spoke
in the interests of the Lord's Day Al-
liance in the United Church on Sun-
day. .
Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Kinsey motor-
ed from their hone at Flint, Mich.,
to attend the funeral of the latter's
uncle, the late Mr. George Gallaher,
which took place on Saturday in Gar-
rie.
The .August meeting of the W.M.S.
of the United Church was held at the
home of Mrs. 'Thos. Gibson, Thurs-
day afternoon, Owing to the inclem-
ency of the weather the attendance
was not large,, but a splendid spirit
prevailed and an interesting time was
spent. Mrs. Gibson presided and the
devotional exercises were in charge
of Mrs. J, R. Wendt who ,read the
3rd chapter of Proverbs, followed
with prayer by Mrs H. 'Timm. After.
several business items were dealt
with, the roll call was responded to '
by verses containing the word Wis-
dom. One of the principal features
of the afternoon's program was an
address by Mrs, Mahood, wife of the
Rev. Mahood of the Methodist Epis-
copal Church, Nebraska, in which she
gave a splendid outline of the way
in which their missionary work is
carried on. In that state, Mrs. Gibson
read a brief but very interesting
sketch of the life of Dr. I(agawa,
Japan's leading evangelist; The pro-
gram was ihterspersed by the sing -

ing of the Hymns "Come Thou Fount
of Every Blessing" "Breathe on me
breath of God" "Come, let us sing
of a 'wonderful love" and "Beneath
the cross of Jesus," and the meeting
closed by the repeating of the Lord's
Prayer in unison. At the close of the
meeting a dainty lunch was served
by the hostess assisted' by her dau-
ghter, Miss Elsie Gibson, of Winni-
peg and a 'social half" hour spent.
The Women's Institute will hold
their August meeting at the home of
Mrs. Thos, Brown. Ladies are re-
quested to bring their sewing.
Recent visitors with Misses Haz-
lewood were: Mrs. Reynolds, former-
ly Lottie Pomeroy of this vicinity,
now of Hart, Michigan, Miss E.
Bready of North Battleford, Sask.,
