How ever r never' heard him pg protest. last September. Never once on the floor :of the house have I ri Beard intim raise his voice against an In increase in tariff, After a trial which extended over Wednesday and Thursday afternoon sessions, Campbell Mclvor, Toronto stock salesman, was today acquitted on charges of theft and conversion, laid at the instance of R. J. Gal- braith of Wingham. The case was heard by Judge Killoran of Stratford. The defence was set up by Frank Donnelly, counsel for Mclvor, that Galbraith had given permission to Mclvor to use the $2,000 which Gal- braith allegedly gave Mclvor to buy Noranda stock and that Mclvor "played" the market with this money with Galbraith's knowledge and con- sent. The judge said there was some doubt on this point but gave accused the benefit, The case is an echo of the stock crash of the fall of 1929. Crown Attorney D. E. Holmes prose- cuted. TWO CARS LESS Monday morning, about 4 o'clock, two cars coining Teeswater way, drove past the detour signs; barri- cades and lights, where the Ireland culvert is torn out, preparatory to building a new one, turned out of the road of two goodly -sized piles of gravel and a cement -mixer, and took nose-dives into the opening, and pil- ed one on top of the other at the bottom of the 20 foot excavation: The drivers of the cars both escaped. also one passenger, with slight bruis- es and cuts, but the cars were wreck- ed; one, a Ford Coupe can possibly ,be repaired, the other is a complete loss. Both machines were hauled clear of the excavation Monday mor- ning. A large, number of people from Wingham on the one side and Teeswater on the other went out to view the wreckage. The scene of the accident is about three miles from here, just at the foot of the Ireland hill, The drivers of the cars were Mr. John Debolt and a brother of Chepstow.-Teeswater News. "Whatsoever You b•ow-- Why are weeds growing worse on. so many farmers, The answer would. seem to be that many farmers are continually sowing far too many weed seeds along with their grain. This has been demonstrated in a seed drill survey carriedon by agri- cultural representatives in four coun- ties of Eastern Ontario this year. About half of the samples examined. from Durham, Lanark, Frontenac and Prince Edward Counties were re- jected by the Seed Branch, Ottawa, on the score of weed impurity. ■ ■ a ill 0 0 110 Maitland Creamery Ili w EGGSi >N IN BUYERS OF CREAM -AND ...Call us for ric s.u.
