The death; took place recently. of
.Mrs. Ira Barclay, at her home in Cli-
xnax, Mich. Mrs. Barclay's maiden
name was Jane Messer, eldest daugh-
ter of the late William Messer of
Bluevale. Her husband was well
lcnown in this district and predeceas-
ed her by several years. Mrs. Barc-
lay had no family but leaves two sis-
ters and a brother; Miss Eliza Mess.-
er of Battle Creek, Mich,, Mrs. (Dr.)
Mikey 'of. Hanover, and Mr. McKen-
zie Messer of Loiidori.. .
Among the recent sufferers 'froth
flu' are Miss Collie; Mr. James Mas-
ters and Mr. Gordon Hall's family.
Mr. George Mathers is now recover-
ing from a particularly severe seige
of it.
Rev. Mr. Mann held an appropriate
Easter service in the United Church
on Sunday evening. In the :Horning
the Women's Missionary Society held
an Easter Thank -Offering service.
The choir was composed of members
of the society. Mr. Rann• addressed
the congregation . in place of Miss
Clarice, returned missionary, who was
linable to make the distance from her
Lohse at Teeswater, owing to the bad
roads.
Browntown Young People intend
presenting a three act comedy entit-
led "Wild Ginger" in the church on
Friday evening, April 17th. Further

The Young People's Society, of
Knox United Church, Belgrave, held
three regular meetings in March un-
der the leadership of the President,
Miss Ellen Stonehouse, and one So-
cial -an Irish Literary night on 18th
of March, under the Leadership of
Bob. Coultes.
At the missionary meeting on
March 4th, Mrs. James Wightrnan
gave the first of a series of topics
on 'The New North." During the
past few months the Society has stud-
ied the book "Fruits of Christian
Missions in Japan and for the fol-
lowing months will study our; own
Canadian Northland.
The musical number for this meet-
ing was a solo by Norman Keating
entitled "An Evening Prayer."
At the second meeting held March
llth, Mrs. Scobie gave an excellent.
paper from the study book "The
Christ of Every Road" on "Penticost
and Modern Fads." • Jack Coultes
gave a vocal solo "He hideth my
soul."
On March 18th, an Irish Literary
rogram was given including paper

ions, etc. The proceeds which am
