ant Cemetery, The late Mrs, Drum-

E. Fieron, Thessalon, Mrs. Jas. Glan-
ville of Seattle, Washington, Mie. H.
Doig, of Toronto, and Mrs. T. J, Mc-
Lean of Wingham.
Henry : John Dettman
A highly respected resident of the
community in the person of Henry
John Dettnian, passed away on Tues-
day, November 18th, at his late home,
lot 14, concession 14, Howick Town-
ship, Huron County, at the age of
74 years, after several months' illness.
The deceased man was born in Meck-
lenburg -Schwerin, Germany, on Sep-
tember 27, 1856, In 1883 he was mar-
ried to Miss Christena Ortman and
shortly afterwards they came to
Canada and settled in' Carrick Town-
ship, Bruce County, where the re-
rnained a few years before settling
on their present home. The late Mr.
Dettman was 'a Lutheran in religion,
and highly esteemed' by friends and
neighbors, n ustrio farm-

Elliott Miller
The funeral of A, G. Elliott Miller,
popular auctioneer, who died at his
home in Lucknow, was held Friday
from the Presbyterian Church, where
a large number of friends and rela-
tives' gathered torpay their last res-
pects. Mr. Miller's death resulted
from an accident to his knee at the
fall fair, Lucknow, when he took part
in a ,tug-of-war. He was well on the
way. to recovery when he'conducted
an auction sale cinder unfavorable
weather conditions and the injured
limb became much worse, and while
confined to bed pneumonia develop-
ed. He was a member of the village
council.- The deceased, who was 42
years of.age, leaves a widow, who be-
fore her marriage was Miss Hilda
Campbell; thnee brothers, Wallace A.
of St. Helens; John, of Toronto, and
Bert, of London, and two sisters,•

Andrew Hamilton
The death is announced as taking
place, Sunday, at` Prince Albert, of.
Andrew Hamilton, one'of the ibest
known residents of Saskatchiewan, for
many years prominent in the affairs
of Indian . Head and district.
Mr, Hamilton was in his 87th' year
having been born oat . January 1, 1844,
n Lanark County, Ontario. He came
to Saskatchewan in 1892 taking up a
I across the Qu'Appelle Val-
ey, north' of Indian Head, later pur
chasing a farm five ' miles north *"of
Iridian Head. In. the Last few years
he had lived with .one of his sons.
On the occasion of his departing from
Indian Head, be was presented by
I Board of Trade and citiaens, with..
a gold -headed cane, at a banquet held
n his honor.
Mr. Hamilton was a Presbyterian
of the old convenanter type, later art
ardent supporter of the United church
of Canada. For a number of years
I was a justice of the peace. In
politics he was a Liberal and was al-
so identified with the Masonic Order
and the Canadian Order of Foresters.
Surviving Mr; Hamilton are five
sons: John C, member of the Child
Protection, residing at Prince Albert;
C. M., Hamilton, a member of the
Board of Graiti Commissioners for,
Canada and former Minister of Ag-
ricuiture for Saskatchewan; J. A.
Hamilton, farmer of Weyburn; and
D. H. Hamilton, an attorney at Tis-
dale, who served in the war from 1916
to its close with the 52nd Battery.
Mrs. Hamilton predeceased her
husband in 1913 and a fifth son, A.
R. Harnilto.n,. who was a law student

James Edward Taverner
James Edward Taverner, a former
well-known resident of Muskoka, died
at his home, 13 Florence street, early
Wednesday morning, Nov. 12, 1930,
from heart failure, at the age of 71
years.
The deceased was born August 17,
1859, in Toronto, where he made his
hone for 34 years. Forty-nine years
ago he was married to Annie Martha
Woods of Toronto. Twelve years af-
ter theie marriage they moved to
Lewish in Ryde township, east of
Graven, urst where they resided for
thirty hree years.
Fair many years the late Mr. Tav-
ern was reeve of the township, a
schol trustee in the village, and un-
til four years ago lie was the post-
master for Lewisham. Prior to taking
over the post office he farmed near
the village. Mr. and Mrs. Taverner
came to Barrie a little more than a
year ago from Wingham where they
had lived three years. He was an
Anglican in religion and a Conserva-
tive in politics. ,During his younger
days he was a 'member of the Sons
of England.
)3esides his wife,he is survived by
four sons, -seven daughters; 40 grand-

isham; John Thomas of Providence,
R. I.; George William Charles, of
Barkeway. A son, Carl, died in Au-
gust 1927, leaving one daughter. The
daughters: Mrs. E. J. Tee, Toronto;
Mrs, William Griffin, Oshawa; Mrs.
A. Steen, Providence; R.I.;; Mrs. Jas.
Tyron, Barkeway; Mrs. Jas. Knight,
Toronto, and Mrs, Ernest, Seddon of
Wingham.
Rev A. R. Beverley, of Trinity
Church, conducted short services at
the home Friday evening at.8.30 p.m.
and the remains were taken to Tor-
onto Saturday morning for interment
in Mount Pleasant cemetery, -Barrie
WEDDINGS
The home of Mrs. Lyon, of Lon-
desboro was the scene of a pretty i
wedding on Wednesday morning at
11 o'clock when her daughter, Olive
Rosetta, *became the bride of Jaynes
Earl Gaunt, son of Mrs. Gaunt and
the late James Gaunt, of Wawanosh
Township, The, ceremony was per-
formed by Rey, J M. Johnston, of
Londesboro The bride, who was
given in marriage by her brother,'Mr,
Stanley Lyon, was charmingly gown-
ed in coral' georgette with radium
lace, and carried a shower bouquet
of roses ' and lily of the valley with
maidenhair fern. The bridal couple
were unattended and stood under an
arch of evergreens and flowers. Dur-
ing the signing of the register Mrs.
Ida Lyon, sister of the bride; played
the wedding music. After the cer-
emony- the guests, including immed-
iate relatives only, sat down to a wed-
ding dinner in the dining -room. The
table, which was centred with the
bride's cake, was beautifully decorated.

scheme being carried cut in the other
house decorations. Dinner was serv-
ed by four girl friends of the bride,
becomingly gowned. Mr. and Mrs.
Gaunt left on a motor trip to Wel-
land and Niagara Falls. The bride
Wore for traveling a coat of maroon
with black fur collar and cuffs and
hat of black velvet. On their return
they will reside on the bridegroom's
farm at St. Helens.

A pretty wedding took place en
Saturday, . Nov. 22nd, in St, Peter's
Church, Goderich, when Rev. Father
Lowry united in marriage Eileen
Marie, youngest daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph Fellows, Goderich, to
Mr. Edward William Forgie of Tor-
onto, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm,
Forgie of Wingham.

The .bride who was given in mar-
riage by her father, wore a gown of
tangefine chiffon with trimmings of
hornette lace with hat and shoes to
match and carried a shower bouquet
of cream roses, lily -of -the -valley and:
maiden hair fern. The bridesmaid
Miss Anna Forgie, sister of the
groom, was gowned in peach satin
with shoes to snatch and large black
velvet picture hat and carried a bou-
quet of pink roses and maiden hair
fern. Mr. George Farr, cousin of the
bride was best man. Miss Jeffries,
organist of the church, played the
wedding music.
Atfer the ceremony the immediate
relatives of the bridal party returned
to the bride's home where a wedding
dinner was served. Later in the af-
ternoon Mr. and Mrs. Forgie left on
their wedding trip, the bride travell-
ing in a dress of green crepe with
coat and: hat to match. The young
couple will reside in Toronto. Their
many friends wish them happiness.
