The Young People's ' Society of Knox United Church, Belgrave, held its annual Hallowe'en party in the form of an OId', Spooks Masquerade, lin the basement' of the Church on Fri- 1 flay evening, October 31st, The guests were met at the door by ghosts who conducted them i t.hrough. "the House of Horrors" --a !dimly lighted circuitous route, wend - ling its ghostly way through the vat:-` ious rooms in which were weird roanin s, grinning pumpkins, graft yards, weeping, barking erf dogs arid, at every turn skeleton ,hands reaching out to clutch one. Arriving at length in the brightly lighted and gaily de- corated basement, where all manner of spooky creatures were roaming about. A program was givers, consisting of The Hallowe'en Story, Orchestra numbers, Readings, choruses, mouth - organ and violin selections, rounds, etc. One feature was the Grand March to decide on pile prize winners, the judges being Mrs. Forbes, Miss Stella •Nethery and Ittiss M. Arm strong. Six prizes were awarded to the following: Aged Couple, Mrs. C. Campbell and Dorothy Stapleton; Handsome Couple, Mrs. McCallum and Mrs. Wright; Spooky Costume, Miss Florence Scott; Modern, Bob. Coultes; Original, Jack Coultes; Com- ic, Glen Bruen. Lunch was served of sandwiches, pumpkin pie, doughnuts and coffee, after which the old fam- iliar hymn "Blest be the tie that binds, was sung.
