Deer Attacked Dog- Driving along the second line of Erin with the team and sleigh one clay recently, • Messrs. Stanley and Roy Wheeler were treated to a close-up view of a large male deer. The dog had been trotting along 'behind the sleigh, when the deer suddenly sprang from the swamp alongside the road and chased the dog. The startled can- ine was compelled to seek refuge un- derneath 'the sleigh, its pursuer bunt- ing the rear of the box in an effort to get at its enemy. -Erin Advocate. Wages and Prices If wages go up, costs go up. If costs gp up, prices go up. If price's go up, wages must go up some more. Thus, the economic spiral.' rises with three, items like three dogs chasing each other round the track, all after the rabbit that climbs a pole in the middle of the spiral just out of reach of all three. Which one ought to+be ahead? If wages are ahead of prices, 'prices cannot pay the wages. If prices are ahead, wages cannot pay the pric- 'es.—San Francisco Chronicle. FIVE ROSES 24 -ib. ANOTHER LETTER FROM THE WEST We are publishing another letter from Antelope, Sask., which shows liow the people of that district ap. predated the car of food stuff, that was sent from here to the West' and how necessary it was to help our fel- low -citizens in that part of the coun- try. The following letter was reeeiv- ed by Miss 13ella Wilsoc, R. R. No. 2, Wingliarn. Antelope, Sask.) Nov. 11, 23 Miss Bella R. R. No, 2, Wingham. Dear Friend: Hope you will not take it amiss calling you friend, as '1 fed like a friend to you after getting the fruit you sent in that car. 1 received 8 jars of fruit and a bag of apples and sure appreciated same. There sure was a crowd at the car and as far as 1 could see it was well distributed. People cannot buy fruit here this year as money is scarce, have not seen it as bad since 1 came to this country, We had a poor crop this year and poor grades for our wheat we had for sale and urines low, it was only en- ough to pay thresh bill, coal and flour. Grasshoppers got nearly all the oats this year so there is not vory tilitcll feed either, 1 came from near Mildmay. in 1915, my brother and his wife stay with me, as he lost his job, three years ago and couldn't .get an- other Well, this is enough about beard times and Yet me say again how Much ,we appreciated what you and your, neighbors have done for ns. 1 do .not knowhow can thank you enough, may ''od bless you, every,, one. We are having like warm weather these' last few weeks so .that helps us out a lot. Have raised a few tur- keys, killed them yesterday and will take Iliom to town to=morrow; don't know yet what they are paying. Hens are starting to lay eggs now and we have about 80 of thein, Well, as this is all 1 know to write about 1 will close with best regards and hoping to hear from you. I remain ever grateful,' Joe 1'. Dither, 130x 26, Antelope, Sask. "True window is to know what is best worth knowing, and to what is best worth dosing."---,11utnphf'eys,
