T'avorable weather conditions add-
ed to the success of the annual Gar -
...den. Party at Ebenezer (Browntown)
United Church, an Friday evening. A
'sumptuous supper was served by the
ladies of the congregation after which
the young people of the Brick
Church, Wawanosh, presented a play
entitled "Orange Grove." The scene
was in California, an interesting ro-
mance ran through the play, a young
man providing oranges from 'his
grove and a young lady from anoth-
er grove, making thein into marrna-
1ade, was the means of bringing mat-
ters to a 'successful climax. Rev. Mr.
Grant of Belgrave, introduced the
caste: Gilbert Beecroft, Mrs. L.
Wightman, Velma Broomer, Beatrice
Beecroft, Cyril Canning, Cecil Coul-
tes, Jack Taylor, Miss Finlayson, Roy
Pattison. Each member of the caste
played their respective parts in splen-
did style. Vocal solos, mouth organ
selections and two whistling numb-
ers by Mrs. Currie, were greatly en-
jpoyed between acts.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. McKinney and Miss Olive Scott were in Wingham
daughter, Ilene, spent Sunday with
Mrs. McKinney's parents, at Harris -
ton.
Miss Dorothy Aitkin, Miss Ethel
Johnston and. Miss Alberta Shields
have completed their term at .,the
Normal School, Stratford, and are at
their respective homes. ,
Mrs. Mary Sanderson and daugh-
ter, Mrs. Geo. Donaldson of Toronto;
are at their home here for the sum-
mer.
Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Garniss spent
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Chas.' H.
Garniss at Brussels.
Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Bosman are
visiting their son, Robert, and Mrs.
Bosman, at Leamington. They were

The June meeting of the Women's
uAssociation of Knox United Church
was held at the home of Nlrs, James
Michie, with Mrs. Finlay McCallum
Vi'esiding. Several items, of business
were discussed. It was decided to
hold a tea towel shower at the next
•meeting. The Women's Missionary
Society held their regular meeting at
'the conclusion of the meeting of the
Woman's Association, with Mrs.
'Grant presiding. A tea was held at
the close of the meeting.
• Miss Edith Procter, Miss Helen
Grasby and Mrs. C. R. Coultes at-
tended the Sunday School Institute
held in St, •Andrew's United Church
in l3lyth on Wednesday.
A very successful dance was held
in the Foresters' Hall on Tuesday
night in aid of, .the Blyth firemen who
so nobly responded to the call for
help during the serious fire here in
March.
Mrs. A, Procter and Verda were
visitors with .Mr. and 11I,sr James
Masters at Parkhill,
Several members of the Women's
Institute attended a meeting of the
Institute at Auburn as guests of that
Branch and with Blyth members also
in . attendance. Several musical num-
bers were enjoyed and a splendid ad-
dress was given - by Miss Emily
Guest, the summer speaker, who took
as her subject "Meeting Present Con-
ditions in a Practical Way. Many
splendid suggestions were given in
the carrying out of work in the corn-
niunity. At the . close of the meeting
lunch was served by the ' Auburn
ladies.
Mr. Jas. Anderson of the 5th line
of Morris, received word on Sunday
that his sister-in-law, Mrs. Fred An-
dersoon, of . Paris, had passed away.
Mr, John Anderson, of Wingham, Mr.
James Anderson, John G. Anderson
and C. R. Coultes of Belgraveattend-
ed the funeral on Tuesday in Paris;
Mrs. C. Campbell who has been
with her son, John, in Aylmer, has re-
turned to her home,
Miss Ann McDowell has returned
after -a visit with relatives in Aylmer
and St. Catharaines.
Mr. N. McGuire of Dryden, Al-
goma, is visiting his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. John McGuire.,
Mr. and Mrs. Bush and son, Ed-
mond, of Toronto, spent the week-
end with Mr. and Mrs. Forbes,

No service wil be held in Knox Un-
ited Church, Belgrave, Sunday, June
25th, owing to the Anniversary serv-
ice being held in Brick Church, when
Rev. Mr. Craw, of Kincardine, will
conduct the service both morning`•and.

Miss Olive Garton has been visit-
ing at Leamington, at the hoine of
her brother, Mr. Wm. Garton, for the
past two weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Johnston` and
his sister, Miss Eileen, of Lucknow,
spent Sunday with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Will Conn.
Mrs. Walker, of Guelph, has been
,visiting with her aunt, Mrs. Mac-
Gregor.
The marriage of Ethel Mae, eldest
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Cur-
rie, of Glenfield Farm, E. Wawa -
nosh, to Mr. Earle Russell Gaunt,
was solemnized at her home on Wed-
nesday, June 14th, with Rev. K. Mac-
Lean 'officiating. The happy couple
left after the wedding dinner for a
short honeymoon trip to Georgian
Bay points. On Friday a reception
was held in their honor at the home
of her parents. This community wet-
comes the new bride and wishes them
a long and happy wedded life.

been visiting with her cousin, Mrs.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Tichbourne of
Goderich, spent Sunday with her par-

Mrs. Joe Kinnahan, formerly Mary
Cummings of Blucher, Sask., is vis-
iting with her mother, Mrs. 'Phomas
Cummings, of East Wawanosh. Mrs.
Kinnahan has not been home for ov-
er 17 years. We welcome her back.

day morning of the death of .Mrs. J.
Leggett who resides with her sol,,
Stan., at Drayton. Her son, Wesley,
left for Drayton at once, on receipt
of this sad news.
Mr. and Mrs: Angus McKenzie and'
daughter, Edna, and Miss ,Dorothy
Ring, of Culross, motored to Toron-'
to on Wednesday last and visited the
former's son, Dan, who was operated
on two days ago in the General Hos-
pital for a broken shoulder bone, he
sustained while cranking a '•car at
Guelph. He will be forced to lie in
the cast for ten weeks.

The Garden Party of the Ashfield
Circuit, which was held on Thurs-
day evening at Zion, was a decided
success, the three -act play put on by,
talent from Dungannon United
Church and music supplied by Mr. D.
Mouran and daughter of Lucknow,
was highly appreciated, everyone tak-
ing his .part well. Owing to the wet
cold weather at that time the tables
and the program was held in the
Church shed.
Mrs. Anson Findly from the West,
is home here visiting her mother,

thers, and other relatives and old
neighbors. We are pleased to see
Mrs. Findly looking so well.
