The Seaforth News, 1945-05-31, Page 4PAGE FOUR THE SEAFORTH NEWS PROVINCE OF ONTARIO GENERAL ELECTION, JUNE 4th, 1945 NOTICE To Active Service Voters who are absent from their units • The attention of members of the Navy, Array and Air Force and all other persons who qualify as Active Service Voters under the - Ontario Active Service Voting Regulations, 1945, is directed to the - following provisions. 1. Active Service Voters at their homes. Active Service Voters who are in their place of ordinary residence on polling day may vote in the manner prescribed by the Election Act for civilian voters, whether or not their names are on the Voters' List, on taking a declaration (Form 8A) before the deputy returning officer. Such voters may vote at the regular polling place for the voting sub -division inwhich they reside. 2. Active Service Voters on Leave or Furlough. Active Service Voters who are absent from their units but not in their place of ordinary residence, on leave or furlough, including such voters on farm leave or industrial leave, may poll their votes with any commissioned officer appointed to take the votes of Active Service Voters, on producing to such commissioned officer docu- mentary proof that they are on leave or furlough and provided that they have not already voted in the election. Such voters should apply to the nearest Naval, Military or Air Force headquarters for information as to the location o the Commissioned Officer nearest to their present address. Alex. * C. Oldham, Mrs. Edward Dougan and Mr, and Mrs, Harry Bolger were in London on Tuesday. Rev, H. M. Jamieson of Toronto, took part in the services in St. Georges Church, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Bryans at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Bryans. Mr, Harvey Bryans is a returned soldier from overseas. Mrs. Stewart Humphries and son Bobby in Hamilton, Death of Eli McLaughlin— Friends were sorry to learn of the death of a former resident of Walton, Mr. Eli McLaughlin, which (.cured at his home at Dutton. Mrs. Conrad Engel — The funeral of Mrs. Annie Men- zies Engel, wife of the late Conrad Engel, took place from the home of her son, Malcolm Engel, in Cran- brook on Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Mrs. Engel died at the home of her son on Wednesday. Rev. Iver Maclyer. minister of Knox Presby- terian Church, Cranbrook. officiated at the serviee. The bod; was laid to rest in Brussels cemetery. Relatives and friends attended the funeral from .Stratford, Goder- ich, Seaforth, Monkton. London, Col- lingwood and Hastings, Mich. Mrs. Engelwas born on the 10th Con. McKillop 73 years ago, daught- er of Wm. Menzies and Ethel Mc- Leod, where she resided until her marriage over fifty years ago to Mr. Conrad Engel. She had been a resi- dent of Grey Township since then. Mr. Engel died in 1917. Surviving are five sons, Archie, Malcolm, Robert and Ross, all of Grev Town - Ship. and William of Stratford. A daughter died in infancy. There are seven grandchildren. 'Airs. Engel was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church at Cranbrook.
