Dear Sirs: Once again I take
pleasure in thanking the Seaforth
branch of the Canaian Legion, for.
a carton of cigarettes which I re-
ceived yesterday. You're doing a
fine job, keep it up. I've been in
India a little over four months. It's a
strange country, yet it would amaze
you the amount of white people
that have lived out here for years.
It's very hot, but we are in the mid-
dle of summer now. The monsoons

Red Cross Notes
There will be an executive meet-
ing of the Red Cross at 4.30 on Fri-
day, June 1, in the Red Cross rooms.
Urgent Need
Due to an urgent call for relief
parcels for the Far East, the Ont-
ario Division has shipped her sur-
plus stock of service socks. The
branches are being asked to help
replace this stock as soon as pos-
sible, We are making a special
appeal to the knitters to do their
very best.
ST. COLUMBAN
The May meeting of the St. Co-
lumban sub -division of the C.W.L.
was held in the chapel with Mrs.
Joseph; Feeney in charge. It was de-
cided to send donations to the
Byron Chapel Fund and to the Hos-
pital Fund. Two boxes of fruit were
sent to sick members. The League
fees are now doe. Cigarettes are to
be sent to the boys overseas. Plans
were made for a social evening to
be held soon. An interesting feature
of the meeting was the presentation
of a gift of a linen tablecloth to the
retiring president, Mrs. V. Lane
The address was read by Mrs. T
Morris, and the presentation made
by Mrs. J. Melady, Mrs. Lane
thanked the ladies for their kindness
and co-operation during the past
year. The meeting then closed with
prayer for our armed forces.

ford, who will race hint at Batavia,
N.Y. This ]corse was bought by Mr.
Gtiy in the fall of 1943 tor $125, and
was sold for $1,200.
"Lady Invasion;" the 6 -yea' -old
which won second place, was sold to
Mcgonald, of Northville, Mich., 1or
$800. She was bought last fall hY
Mr. Guy on the day the Allies entered
Germany and so in lienor of the event
he changed bar name from "Lady
Mae" to "Lady Invasion,•'
Mr. Guy is now on the look out

A well-known resident of Sea-
forth, Mrs. Margaret S. Archibald
died Friday noon at the age of 84
years. She had been ill since Christ-
mas from a heart attack, and was
an inspiring sermon from the text.
