Arrangements have been made to hold the Annual Spring Stock Show in the Park, at Hensall, on Thursday. June 7th. Anniversary Services Held— Rev, Norman MacKay B.A., of Knox Presbyterian Church ;Mitchell, conducted anniversary services in Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sunday, delivering inspiring dis- courses at both services. At the morning service Rev. MacKay spoke on the subject 'Cast not, therefore, away your confidence." Mr. Robert Cameron Jr. sang a delightful solo, entitled "The Stranger of Galilee." The Choir contributed two anthems entitled ''The Morning Light Is Breaking" duet by Mrs, Beynham and Miss Margaret MacLaren, and "When My Heart Is Overwhelmed," At the evening service Rev. Mac- Kay took as his subject "The Lord God Hath led you through the dark days of five years of War." Mrs. J. W. Bonthron sang a pleasing solo entitled "My Cathedral." Mrs. Mal- com Dougall and Mr. James Ben- gough sang a beautiful duet "Whisp- ering Hope," The Choir sang an anthem entitled "The Lord. Is My Rock" Mrs. Jas Paterson, soloist. • •Rev. W. A. PRYDE, of Exeter, who has served in two wars and whose fours sons are in uniform, is the Progressive Con- servative candidate in Huron -Perth riding. With one war's service to his credit, and at the age of 53, he enlisted in the R.C.A.F. at Toronto in august, 1941, and was posted to. Toronto Recruiting Centre. He served at Trenton, the London Re- cruiting Centre, and then at Toronto where he was stationed when he retired in March, 1944, with the rank of Flight Lieutenant. In January 1916 he enlisted in the 135th Battalion and served in Fiance with the 60th and 87th Battalions, C.E.F. Trans- ferring to the R.A.F. in 1918, he trained as an observer with a R.N.A.S. unit for operations on anti-submarine patrol. Active in municipal life, Flt. Lt. Pryde was Reeve of Exeter during 1935 and 1936 and a member of the Huron County Council during that time. He has served about ten years as secretary of the Exeter Cemetery Board and about ten years on the Public Utilities Commission. At one 0 time or another he has served 011 every public body in Exeter. He was elected president of the Canad- ian Association of Memorial Craftsmen in 1928, and for a number of years was a member of the Executive. He is a charter member and second president of the Exeter-Hensall branch of the Canadian Legion, For a number of years before the outbreak of the present war, be was Adjustment Officer, assisting veterans in arranging for pensions and claims, Flight Lieutenant Pryde is a native of Scotland and came to Canada over 35 years ago. On his return from overseas after the last Great War, he purchased a monument business in Exeter in con- junction with Walter Cunningham. He has branch offices in Clinton and Seaforth.
