Dear Gladys: I am afraid that your letter was a little longer in coming than it should have been due to the change in the weather and the way we have been moving about—it came the other day and I was very glad to receive it, A "Newsy" letter such as you have written snakes home seem a lot near- er and the 'things you mention are nice to think about when one thinks of home—which is quite often these days. We ,were 411 a little let down when winter set in because it slows the war up so much but now :that the Russians have started, everyone .seeins to have become cheered. Thank you for the Xmas card, Unfortunately, just around Xmas MISERIES OF Baby's Cold z s • el .leve le Now.... here's reliable home - proved medication that works 2 ways at once to relieve distress of child's cold—even while he sleeps! Just rub throat, chest and back with'Vicks VapoRub at bed- time. Instantly VapoRub starts to relieve coughing spasms, ease muscular soreness or tightness, and invite restful, comforting sleep. Often by morning, most of the misery is gone. For baby's sake, try VapoRub tonight. It must be good, because when colds strike, most mothers time we were moving around a bit, and as a result were unable to en- joy our Xmas until the first week in January. But we did enjoy' it. Thank you again for your kindness. MAJOR HOWARD HEMPHILL. Dear Gladys: I am very sorry I never answered your welcome letter' sooner but something always seemed to come up. I guesa Hensall will 'be the same old place, likely it is snowed under now. I have not seen any snow' so far but for the last few weeks it has been frosty, as long as it doesn't rain 1 don't mind. We had a lovely Xmas dinner and also on New Year's turkey and all the trimmings. The only thing that seemed strange was the lack of snow. I have only had a week's leave since I carne across and my churns and I spent it in Lon- don. We went through Westminster Abbey and also saw the Parliament Bldgs. and Buckingham Palace. The flying bombs are still a nuisance and while I was in London one landed quite close to where I was staying. I see it is time for ane to be going so I shall close for now. Sgt.
