ceived a cable on Monday from their
son, Pte, James Cleary, who is now
overseas.

ine, spent a couple of days with Mr.
and Mrs. Foster Bennett and her
father, Mr. John Bennett.
Wilmer Howes of Petawawa was
home attending the funeral of his
grandmother, Mrs. Howes. He is also
home on, leave.

To Arctic —
Mr. Harold Taylor, of town, is set-
ting out at the end of this month on
a trip to distant Aklavick, at - the
mouth of the Mackenzie River,.to he
engaged for five years as a student
missionary for the church of England
in Canada. Mr, Taylor has for sone
years been preparing himself for the.
service of his church, and he will
have the good wishes of his many
friends for tis success in the work,
Which he is undertaking. He will be
accompanied by his wife, who for'
satire time has been engaged as dieti-`.

now tendered her resignation of the
Position. Tliey plan to go to their'
destination in the Farr North by way
of Edmonton and the Peace Rivers=
a journey of over two thousand miles.

A very pleasant entertainment
was held in Londeshoro community
hall one evening last week when
friends and neighbors gathered in'
honor of Charles Wesley Hokgart,
who has been stationed with the
Navy at Newfoundland, and his
bride. Mr, and Mrs Floggart are at
present guests of the former's
parents, Mr, and Mrs. Charles Hog-
gait of Hallett, and return to the
East this week, after several weeks'
visit here. The address was read by
Mr, Glenn Carter and the presenta-
tion of a sum of money made by Mr,
Jack Medd, The evening was spent.
in dancing. The following was the
address:

your recent marriage. Our best
