WINTHROP The W.M.S. and W.A. held their annual meeting. on Wed. Dec. 3, in the church. Mrs. E. Toll presided. The theme of the meeting was, "Christmas for all Nationalities". The Christmas story, Luke 2. 4-20 was read in unison. The high -light of the worship period was "The Candle -Lighting ceremony", under the leadership of Mrs. Toll. The dif- ferent nationalities making up the Canadian people were represented by members of Circle 4: Mrs.: W. Somerville, Mrs. E. Miller, Mrs. R. Dodds, Mrs. A.' Alexander, Mrs. R. McClure, Mrs. G. Bernard and Mrs. W. Church. An Indian Carol, "'Twas in the Moon ,of Winter time",. was sung by Mrs. W. Montgomery.. An African Carol, "0 Little One lowly; 0 Little One Holy," was sung as a duet by Mrs. Jas. Hogg and Lois. The worship period closed with "Our Lord's summary of the law." Mrs. R. McFarlane took charge for the business period. The roll call was answered by 24 members with a Xmas thought. The secretaries and treasurers of each branch of the so- ciety gave their reports. The offi- vers for the New Year were installed by Rev. Mr. Peters. A vote of thanks was moved to Mrs. McFarlane for her work as president in the past years.
