ST. COLUMBAN I
The regular meeting of the St.
Colulnban sub -division of the C.W.L.
was held with the president in the
chair. The meeting opened with.
prayer. The minutes as read were
adopted. Ninety-five rnetitbers were
reported as having paid fees. The
treasurer's report showed a balance
of $51.95.: Prizes were awarded to
sixwinners in an essay contest and
one art winner. The president, Mrs.
Murphy was appointed to attend the
Diocesan convention in London in
September. A presentation was
made to Mrs. Joseph Feeney, past
president. Theaddress was read by
Mary Malone and the presentation
was made by Mrs. Murphy. The
ineeting was closed with prayer.

Fisher reunion on Satiu'day, June 14,
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy
Fisher in Fullerton were Mr, a.nd,Mrs.
Wm. Koehler and sons, Mr, and Mrs,
Jerry Doerr and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam ' Smyth and
George of Mitchell were guests' at the
home, of Mr, and Mrs. Irvin Rock on
Sunday, the occasion being the chris-
tening of Baby Paul Charles. '
Mr, Fred Hoegy recently received
word from New York state that Ed-
iward Stei'nagl'e had died on May 30th.
Mr. Sternagle was born of Lot 6,
Con. 8, and had' lived here until about
15 years, ago. He was the,son'of the
late Mr: and Mrs. Goorge " Sternagle.
Mr. and Mrs. WVm. Klea, Mr. and
Mrs. Bernel Walker of Stratford, Mr.
and Mrs, Gordon Kleber and family
of Seaforth were Sunday visitor's, at
the hone of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hoegy
VARNA
The Varna W.M.S. entertained
the societies of Goshen and Blake
on Thursday, June 5 in the church.
The meeting was opened with. quiet
music followed by singing 'hymn
309. Everyon' joined "in repeating
the Lord's Prayer. ' The president,
Mrs. Lee McConnell welcomed the
'visiting societies. A trumpet solo
played by Mrs. Clare McBride of
Goshen was much enjoyed. Mrs.
Sherlock Keyes read the scripture
after which Miss Hern led in prayer -
We were favored by a solo by Miss
Hera, Mrs, Haugh introduced the
'Herm
speaker, Miss Bowey of Bruce -
field, She gave a very interesting
account of the Presbyterial held in
Aylmer on May 6. A duet "A mom-
ent of Prayer" was ably tendered
by Mrs. Russell Erratt and Mrs, E.
A. Keyes. Hymn 252 was sung aftei
which Miss Hern pronounced the
benediction. A dainty lunch was
served by the Varna ladies. Mrs.
Russell Erratt of Goshen moved a
vote of thanks to the Varna society
and to Miss Bowey for an enjoyable
afternoon. This was seconded by
Mrs. T. Dinsmore of Blake.

The Varna W.A. held their May
meeting in the Town hall in the form
of a quilting bee. Twenty-six ladies
were present. The president, Mrs.
Ernie McClinchey opened the de-
votional part 0f the meeting. We
sang the theme song after which
Mrs E. McClinchey read vMy Daily.
Prayer". Mrs. Will Stephenson then
took charge of the devotion. We
sang hymn 350. Mrs. %Geo 'Reid
read the scripture,reeding and Mrs.
Stephenson read the 16th verse of,
Psalm 66. Hymn:504 was sung. The
minutes of the last meeting were
read and adopted and the roll call
answered by "an idea for ' making
money", Meeting was closed, by re
peatino• in unison the prayer from

C. Haugh last Thursday.
Sympathy is extended to Mr. and
Mrs. Edgar Allan and Miss Louise
Allan in the death of their father
Mr, Jas. Allan, who passed away
Sunday evening.
Sympathy 'is also extended to
Mrs. R. Dawson in the death . of her
mother, Mrs. A. Doan, who passed
away at her home at Inwood. Mrs.
Dawson has been with her mother
for some time.
Mr. Kenneth Scott and bride. re-
turned from their wedding trip early
