Blackberries, gooseberries, crab apples, tart apples, quinces and cranberries jel easily. 2. Cherries, strawberries, peaches, pears and rhubarb require a pectin or jel-rich combination to give the best results. For example use one part of one of the fruits listed in No. 1 to 2 .parts of one of fruits listed in No. 2. Or a commercial pectin can be used. 8. Fruit should not be over -ripe and should be carefully cleaned. Measure all ingredients or weigh fruits and sugar. 4. Jelly should be boiled rapidly. Use a large preserving kettle to pre- vent boil -ovens and stir constantly. 5. Monday afternoon when flaming gasoline set fire to his clothing. Harry was working at a bench when sparks from the job he was working on flew several feet into a pan of gasoline and it burst into flames. Taking his foot to slide the pan out of doors the gasoline and oil spilled over his trousers and he immediately' became a flaming torch. Lying and rolling on the floor several spectat- ors helped in removing thetrousers and putting out the flames but not before Harry received aerie -tie burns to both legs and one arm.
