Miss Helen McNaughton of Toronto spent the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs, Lorne McNaughton. Pte. Helen Gay of .Ottawa spent the weekend at the home of Mrs. Minnie Sangster. Mr. Win. Glenn held a successful Sale of farm stock and implements at his home on highway. No, 4, on Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Gleno and Donald are moving to Grand Bend this week. F.O.D.S. Sangster of London spent the weekend at his home here. Mrs. Geo. Hess visited during the past week with Mr. and Mrs. H. 0. Dayman, in London. The World's Day of Prayer Ser- vice er:ice was held on Friday, March 8, at w p.m. in St. Paul's Anglican Church with the following, Mrs, R. FI, Mid- dleton, Mrs. Hannah Workman and Miss Mattie Ellis presiding; repre- senting the various W.M.S. The or- ganist. Mrs. Forrest presided at the organ throughout the service. Spe- 'iai prayers were taken by Mrs. P. A. Ferguson, Mrs. C. Hudson, Mrs. R. A. Brook, Mrs. E. Geiger, Miss Mary Fee. hiss Annie Consitt took the lesson from the programme - psalm 46, Miss Florence Welsh sang delightful solo entitled "Sweet Hour of Prayer." Mission Circle The Mission Circle of the United Church met at the home of Mrs. E. Norminton with Marie Boyd co - hostess. The opening hymn "Day is dying in the West" was followed by the scripture reading by Elaine Beer, after which "Jesus shall reign where'er the Sun" was sung. Elean- or Venner led in prayer. The roll call was answered by an important fact of Africa. The business follow- ed and arrangements were made for the hostess to supply some form of recreation following the meeting and plans were nacre to hold a ba- zaar. The topic was taken by Bernice Jinks and was very interesting. The meeting closed by singing "Rise up, 0 men of God" and the Benediction repeated. A contest followed. Arnold Circle Evening Auxiliary The Arnold Circle Evening Aux- iliary of Carmel Presbyterian Church met at the home of Mrs. Chas. For- rest on Tuesday evening with Mrs. Jack Farquhar co -hostess. Mrs, Mel- vin Moir presided and opened the meting with the Call to Worship and singling "For all the Saints who +'roin their labors rest" Mrs. A, W. Kerslake read the scripture from Acts 4, 8-20, after width Miss Violet Hyde led in prayer. The business and roll call followed. The topic en- titled "The native African Church" was taken by Mrs. Roy MacLaren. The meeting closed by singing "Sol- diers of the Cross Arise" and the Lord's Prayer in unison. Refresh- ments were served by the hostess. Mr. and Mrs, Harold Parker and family visited recently with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Keyes at Mitchell.
